  1. Jeff/Wilco don't allow videotaping of their live shows, so actually the security woman was right on the ball if that's what you were doing. I'm glad you enjoyed the show, though! The comments about "Poor Places" reminded me of how much I liked that one, too. I think this was a new arrangement, because I'd never heard it quite that way before. Specifically toward the end.
  2. I really enjoyed it, but it's not a new Wilco song. It's a song Jeff wrote for Mavis Staples. It's ... soulful? I had a great time Saturday, and of course loved the (mostly) spoken-word version of "Single Ladies." If nothing else, I guess we've learned exactly how much Jeff doesn't want to play "Ashes" solo. But "Single Ladies" was comedy gold, so it was a definitely good bet last night. Thanks, Jeff! The biggest surprise of the night for me was Russ's request for "Shakin' Sugar" (left over from Friday night) actually being played. It sounded wonderful. I don't know if there was an
  3. What a fun night! I'll tell you something: I never thought I'd hear "Monkey Mess" live. Don't miss tomorrow, people! (And the posters are great.)
  4. Oh, I can't wait to see these. Though Sammy did a good job with poster and t-shirt art a couple years ago! I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend. (I mean, even more than I usually look forward to the weekend.)
  5. Has Wilco ever played in Montclair before?
  6. Maybe, but I don't think it's ever seen the light of day. Though at Milwaukee's Summerfest in 2006, Jeff claimed they were going to call that night's audience into the studio to help out with a soccer chant-esque portion of "Let's Fight."
  7. Whoa, I just looked up and saw Wilco concert footage on the Madison news. The newscasters were talking about the resolution to make them citizens, which was apparently discussed at tonight's council meeting. I honestly couldn't make out whether it was officially adopted or what. Here's the item from the meeting agenda tonight ... it still makes me laugh:
  8. Ha, nice. Mayor Dave really is a funny guy. I kind of wish someone had contacted him beforehand to introduce Wilco (wait, was I supposed to do that?), because he does a great job with intros. Of course, Russ Feingold has introduced Wilco. That should count for something.
  9. Yeah, but some of us know what's important. Thanks for the update, P. Interesting song order - seems like they put all the song names in a hat and drew out six to compose the encore. I like it! (Do I need to comment in each show's thread? Yes. Apparently I do.)
  10. I'm way late on this, and I enjoy a good poutine, but lobster poutine? What the hell kind of gravy goes with lobster?
  11. I would like to know if the Maneki Neko has been on stage for the past couple of shows. You know, details that matter.
  12. Wow, "What's the World Got In Store"! I can only hope these nuggets they're dropping in are preparation for the Evening With tour. Also, "Poor Places" into "Reservations" is always lovely.
  13. Oh, never fear. The members of Wilco may become honorary citizens here yet. City Council may declare Wilco members honorary citizens of Madison Way to cave, Madison! We'll see if this goes anywhere. The resolution is pretty funny, actually. I liked this:
  14. Any time they want to come back to the Barrymore, we'd welcome them with open arms...
  15. Ha, yes, this is a perpetual ongoing debate. Not just about Wilco shows. Here's the most recent thread; feel free to add your thoughts there. I'd rather keep it all in one place. http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/42985-standor-sit/
  16. Tickets are still available via Ticketmaster at $100 or $250.
  17. Candyfloss! Okay, that one hurts. I curse you, snow! Looks like a really nice setlist. Thanks for the update.
  18. Hey Matt - not a problem at all. I didn't even think about it. Obviously I had no idea anything was up, and I'm sorry to hear it ... but I'm glad the show was such a great experience for you. Those songs sure do have a way of hitting you at the right time. I also wanted to add that I enjoyed the "former Wilco opening bands" mix during the break between sets.
  19. Oh, everyone is. But yeah, we're definitely buds.
  20. That looks right to me. Enthusiastic crowd tonight in Madison, which makes me happy at a hometown show. And most people (with the exception of most of the first row?) were standing, at least where I could see. It was great hearing "Roses," "Country Disappeared," and "Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway(again)." And "Broken Arrow!" Holy crap. After hoping to hear it ever since the MusiCares tribute, I managed to forget all about it tonight until they launched into it to begin the encore. I was amazed at what they did with the song. I mean ... that's hard! I shouldn't be surprised, though.
  21. I'll call Mayor Dave first thing in the morning!
  22. Prague is great! The old town, the Charles Bridge. Buy a marionette. I was in Vienna once, but only for about two hours.
  23. Hi srmt! Will these $100 tickets be the further back/balcony seats? If so, will the other price levels still be available on Saturday? Thanks!
  24. According to the WilcoWorld homepage.
