Jeff? No, not during the show anyway. I didn't notice any of that from the Petes on Sunday either. One was stuffing little cookies into girls' hoods, but that's about as menacing as things got. I didn't notice the colorful SG in Milan, but it was out in Amsterdam. Also good to see the reappearance of Nels's double-neck guitar for "You Never Know." Playing "I Must Be High" last night would have been too blatant, right? I think we were only missing "Red-Eyed and Blue" for the more subtle drug references. Nice.

It is a lovely former church, yes. Those who listened to the webcast undoubtedly heard this, but "Handshake Drugs" was dedicated to Zwarte Piet. Yes! (Sinterklaas and the Zwarte Pieten arrived on Sunday in Amsterdam.)

"Ashes" was a really good choice to open the show. The sound was amazing from our seats all night, and the crowd was great! A perfect combination of respect and enthusiasm. What a treat it was to convene in Milano with friends I'm used to seeing in places like (the cheap chrome canyons of the maddest) Manhattan(s), and Chicago. Safe travels to everyone. One other note - Grizzly Bear had a bus and trailer crash somewhere in Austria. Everyone is reportedly okay, but they weren't able to make it to Milan. Yikes, that must have been scary.

Rob's pick? I hadn't even noticed Either Way on that list. Very nice!

Actually it says through 9 p.m. Wednesday. Which, as someone who usually does all "24" hours, kind of makes me want to die already.

Full disclosure: I noticed the aforementioned collaboration at Bridge School on one of the big screens out in the refreshment area. Josh Groban's set = break time. But people in this thread seemed to be wondering why he was going to be at MusiCares.
-
Josh Groban, and many of the other performers listed, have played various Bridge School benefits, Farm Aids, etc. with Neil. Many literally with Neil. I seem to recall a Josh Groban/Neil duet of "Harvest Moon" in 2008. I'm sure this is related to their inclusion in the program; not to say Grammy nominations aren't possible for some.

December 15th-16th.

Remember The Great Outdoors? Jody the bear? Bald at both ends? Anybody?

Ha. I can't believe I'm not the only person around here who saw that. Fun fact: Glenn's arms-aloft pose before ITMWLY was originally billed as a Todd Trainer tribute. No word on whether Todd's greyhound can do rock poses. (Nobody seems to know anything about the actual question posed in this thread, do they.)
-
No, that's Glenn's little girl. I was a little surprised to see that (undeniably adorable) shot in the collection, amidst all the rocking. Richie did take some gems, that's for sure.

Ha, that's right. I'd never thought about it before then, but I totally get why someone would assume that, given the pronunciation in the song, Americans just don't know how to pronounce foreign city names. While this is undoubtedly true in many cases, the real culprit here is something a little weirder. American cities/geographical regions - especially those in the midwest - just love incorporating foreign words (or even locales elsewhere in the U.S.) and pronouncing them in a different way. Some examples: American locale and pronunciation / How

Maudie, the impression I get at a quick glance is that your avatar depicts a Victorian deathbed scene. So, really, not too far off.

I am 99% sure that the site used to say something different. The U.S. was the last country on there. When I get home tomorrow, I'm going to pick up a copy. I'm excited to hear the whole thing,

You can listen to one of the songs on their website right now. http://onfillmore.com/

I'm not being coy; I was at the Second City event that year, but wasn't part of the auction-bidding group. Some friends of mine were, and perhaps they'll come around and talk about it. There was a thread at the time, but even the archives don't go back that far anymore.

The year before the living room shows started, a listening party for AGIB was the main auction item for Letters to Santa. This was for a much smaller group - maybe 5? - and wasn't originally planned for the Loft, though that's where it ended up. Yes, some VCers were present.

I fully understand choosing not to support a business because they donate money to organizations whose aims are not in accordance with your own views. Poongoogler's clarification makes a lot more sense to me. I do, however, think there are people out there who are annoyed with Christianity in general and would indeed refuse to support a "churchy" company simply because it does something like closing on Sundays. Obviously it's their choice either way.
-
Dang. Refusing to eat somewhere because it's closed on Sundays according to the founder's beliefs seems crazier to me than closing on Sundays according to the founder's beliefs. There used to be one Chick-fil-A near where I grew up, at a mall about 25 minutes away. Waffle fries! Amen.

Looks like the remaining October dates aside from Bloomington have been canceled.

Most of the European dates have openers listed. In the UK, it's The Clientele. http://wilcoworld.net/shows/index.php

No. Evansville, Indiana, though. PARTY! Am I right?

I'm tired. See, I grasped the sarcasm, but failed to detect the actual point being contested. I do like kidsmoke's new name.
