  1. I've seen Jeff Tweedy get pissy on stage more than once.. But at least from my experience he usually covers it up well with his hilarious sense of humor, even though you can tell he's pissed...
  2. Don't worry, Band Of Horses should totally make it worth your time.
  3. To me, the singer of KOL always sounds like some drunk dude that pushed the real singer off the mic and started singing with the band..
  4. Yeah, even though I've heard that Ben is a friendly, down to earth dude in person, he can be very rockstar at times... I've heard of him throwing hissy fits on stage because the sound wasn't perfect etc...
  5. I suppose you have a point. Hitler did incredible things for Germany's infrastructure, embracing the autobahn and turning it into what it is today... But he was still Hitler.
  6. Band Of Horses are a great live band. I saw them when they still played small places and it was an excellent show. Kings of Leon..... Awful... Just Awful.... Although I know there are some folks around here that dig them and that's cool.
  7. True Widow: As High As The Highest Heavens And From The Center To The Circumference Of The Earth Just discovered this band when I saw they were opening for Kurt Vile at the 40 Watt in August (attending). Really digging them.. The music is very slow, sort of stoner rock'ish but with incredibly loud, gritty guitars tuned way down. Some have compared them to Low. I guess they resemble them but they are much louder and less boring.
  8. You got the rare reversed 7" that will be worth a killin one day.
  9. I did the presale once, was not happy with the results, and never have done it again since... In fact two times I bought through regular sales; I was on the front row center in front of Jeff (best seats I've ever had for a concert) and the second time was second row.
  10. Actually, after the piece of shit that was last season, this season isn't so bad... I'm giving it a chance.
  11. That's about the best description I've heard of the drum sound on SBS.. In fact the overall production is very dry on the album, tampons all over the studio..
  12. I always liked the tune, but the chorus gets old after while. The "Shake It Off" seems like it repeats two times too many... But if one is obeying the laws of songwriting, it has to do it four times or it wouldn't sound right (or worse than it does)..
  13. I first heard Wilco when I saw them at Greenville Municipal Stadium in Greenville, SC (former home of The Greenville Braves minor league team) in 1997 (still touring for Being There I believe). They were playing along with other country and rock acts. The closer was Gov't Mule. Wilco blew all of the other acts off the stage.. I remember thinking Jay was so cool, playing keys and guitar, cig hanging out of his mouth the whole time.
  14. Gave it a full listen yesterday on my way home from work. The first thing I noticed is the production is exactly the same as Melted. The guitar tone, the drums, the effects on the vocals... The songs are pretty similar too but just scaled back some. It almost sounds like it should be part two of a double disk with Melted being the loud/insane disk, and Goodbye Bread the more mellow disk. I like it but it didn't knock my socks off or anything. I still need to soak it in though.
  15. Exactly! You don't realize how exhausting driving can be until you go on a very long trip. I remember literally sleeping for days after my drive across the country.. Glad you enjoyed the trip!
  16. Interesting, I'll pick it up. I never thought I would see the words Ty Segall and mellow in the same paragraph... I'll let you know what I think.
  17. Hmm.. That's a toughy. I can't think of a single Wilco song (not sure about Billy Bragg or UT) that has a progression like that. I'm probably way off but the two beats on two chords then four beats on one chord reminds me of "She's A Jar".. Although it's |G Bm | C |
  18. I forgot all about that new Ty Segall. What's your take on it PT? I'll probably go ahead and buy it today (without previewing first, no headphones at work.. I trust him).. I really liked his last record although I had to be in the mood for it.
  19. I was going to watch this but I decided to watch grass grow instead.
  20. +1 Love some Daniel Romano.. He needs to get down here to Southern US sometime.. Folks would love him down here.
  21. Looks that way to me. Could this be hint at their next Wilco product, Wilco (The Pizza)? Sorry, that was very cheesy..
  22. One of those Atlanta dates is looking tempting. This is the first time in years that I've actually had second thoughts about seeing Wilco.... Maybe it's because I've seen them four times in the last couple years? Maybe cause I wasn't very fond of their last record? Hmm..
  23. Kurt Vile has to grow on you... I flat out didn't like Smoke Ring when I first heard it... Then after a few late night drive listens, I fell in love with it.. "Childish Prodigy" is great as well. btw, I'm finally going to get to see him at the 40 Watt in August. Stoked..
