We're having a snow day in NW Connecticut! We've had probably 5 this year, with maybe 5 more delays. Probably half have been justified. Today's certainly was. I snowblowed about 10 inches, and the way its going, I'll probably have to do it again. Where I grew up, in the Adirondack's, they never called snow days. It had to be a blizzard. It was no problem for me, I lived in the same village as the school, but some kids live 1/2 hour away on a nice day. Yesterday, I went to Target and bought some shiny new art supplies so the kids are happy for now. Later, we might go to a friend's who

Yes on Zion. Sestri Levante, Italy. Little fishing village outside touristy Cinque Terra. There are some tourists, but from other areas of Italy. Sat my ass on the beach for a week only to rise for octopus and wine. Belize-Carocol-Mayan site. Climbed the tallest building in Belize, which happens to be a Mayan temple. Oh, and Weymouth, MA. I used to teach art at the high school there. -
Happy Birthday to you!

Donna, don't think I've given up on Brothers K! I'm slowly working my way through it!

Ohhh. Handmaids Tale was really good. That was one of the first adultish books I read. Out of Africa has been on my list for a long time.

mmmm. I'm not sure this is the greatest approach. Listen. Just talk to her. You know her best, and assuming you are not going into this marriage thing lightly, you would have a pretty good idea of how she will take it. If she comes right out and says no, then I would recommend you never bring it up again. It's not the same as saying no to every Wilco concert. But, hopefully, it is something you can enjoy together. I have bands that I love, there are bands my husband loves, and there are bands we love together. We go to the ones we both love together, sometimes I accompany him and h

I say let her read this thread and she what she thinks then. She'll see how respectful you are being of her needs and wants.

When I ordered directly from the box office, the chart they had you pick from had HH. I wouldn't worry, it just looked cut off from that link that was posted.

It's recommended for the will call, as is the confirmation. Only ID is required, according to their website.

So I just got an email from the venue at 10:15 and was able to get 4 in row FF. Way off to the side, but it'll do.

Nothing for me either. I've also been getting emails from them for years and nothing on this. Grrrrrr.

I would need the cell phone. I would want either tv or high speed internet, I don't need either, but would want one. I don't use bottled water or buy coffee out anyway. Concert tix over $35 could go, I suppose, there could be exceptions. My only big indulgence right now is skiing and I really wouldn't want to let go of that. I could drink cheaper wine, I guess. If I had to.

I'm trying to think of a way I can do the Burlington show. Maybe incorporate a little spring skiing! I'll make sure not to spill any beer though.

I was right up front and was pretty excited to see him. He was visibly distracted, I thought, and made some comments about lots of people walking around and talking. Which I kind of agreed with, but on the other hand, if you are the opener, shouldn't you kind of expect all of that and be a professional and bring on your best show regardless?

I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt when I say that he must have been having an off night when he opened for Wilco in Berkeley, summer '07. Too bad because I was looking forward to him, he was a little snarky too. I will give this a listen though.

Happy Birthday and Cake to you!

I'm happy in ways I can't even express.

I used to live one town over from Wackenbonerhauf, Germany.

So I went to buy tickets for Hartford today. $100 for upper level? Where's the cheap seats? The basement? Sorry, not this time.

That looks like a lovely way to spend a week..... For someone else, not me. I'm broke.

I've been to France, although not Bordeaux, a bunch of times. You will have enough French with 2 semesters to get by just fine. Just be friendly and polite, start out conversations in French, sprinkle in as many Madam/Monsieurs as you can. Greet every store owner when you walk in, and say au revoir when you leave. Eat and drink everything put in front of you, ask questions later. Do a little research on Bordeaux wines before you go. By law, each winery can only produce a certain amount of their best vintage wine a year. But, there is often extra and it is bottled under a second label, o
