    Definitely the same melody. Funny that Chuck didn't feel the need to attribute a song-writing credit for that one, but threatened the Beach Boys over Surfin USA. They gave him songwriting credit before it went to court.

    Trump is really just doing what he's always done. One of his "tricks" during his casino building phase was to bring in lots of trucks (like a kid in a sandbox) to make a lot of noise. Literally. They would dig holes and fill them in, because he wanted people to think he was making progress. That's exactly what his travel ban is: Lots of trucks making noise and doing nothing.

    On his most recent episode, John Oliver brought up an excellent Trump quote from his Art of the Deal book: "You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion, you can get all kinds of press... but if you don't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on." Yep.

    Looks like Rain might as well be titled Looks Like I'm Going to Skip This Song on my system. Here's one for you. I can't stand the lyrics to Jack Straw. I listen to the Dead a lot when I'm in the kitchen, which means when I'm on clean-up duty during the week, and then cooking and clean-up on the weekends. Whenever Jack Straw comes on, I sing the lyrics extra loudly so that my wife can give her standard "oh that's nice, hon" after I sing the opening line. That line, and I've always hated "The Eagles Filled The Skyyyyyyyyyy" line. I guess I'll add Sugar Magnolia to that list too. That, o

    This is true. Acts like Katy Perry automatically have a chunk of the best seats re-allocated to places like Stub Hub, which LiveNation/Ticketmaster also owns. The prices are jacked up accordingly, but instead of a middle man/scalper, Katy Perry is the "person" selling you those tickets directly.

    I love that song. I always have had a soft spot for songs that start out with a killer first line. On the day when I was born, Daddy sat down and cried. Plus the chorus is such a nice song-along.

    The beautiful tone is set in the opening stanza - as the narrator quotes from WB Yeats' Stolen Child. The Waterboys set it to music on Fisherman's Blues: My kids (2 and 4) tend to get obsessed with one movie/show at a time, and lately, it's been the 2 year old saying "Irish movie, papa" the moment he wakes up, every morning. My past couple days have been sick days at home, and I think I've seen bits of this movie every day since last weekend.

    ^^Wilco passed my $ threshhold long ago. I think I last saw them at the Hide-Out festival, no wait, it was at Pitchfork just a couple summers ago. I saw U2 at the United Center (Chicago) a couple summers ago, but those GA floor prices weren't outrageous ($75). Los Lobos is the only long-running band I'm still interested in, and they don't play arenas. I have way more fun at smaller places anyways.
