  1. Stumbled upon this movie while browsing Amazon Prime over the weekend: I think it was up for a Best Animated Feature Oscar a couple years ago. Wonderful film - if any of you are looking for an kids' flick that may have gone under your radar in the past couple years, this one really won me over. The hand-drawn animation is amazing. It's a modern Irish folk tale - by the same team that made The Book of Kells (maybe 7-8 years ago?) - another great film.
  2. Well, there's a point, which I'm sure you're close to, where this practice of separating you from your money is beyond what you would consider a reasonable return, right? Right now this practice is viable, because there are consumers like you who are still willing to part with their money to get a ticket. When that stops, ticket prices will go down. Some people think it's ridiculous that tickets for Hamilton are $750+, and they get all huffy about it. Well... tickets to Hamilton are $750+ because there are more than enough consumers who are willing to pay it.
  3. ^^ I felt that Moonlight was a better movie than La La Land simply by the amount of discussion it generated between me and my wife. Neither of us were that impressed with La La Land - it was pretty neatly wrapped. We didn't care for Hacksaw Ridge either. We felt that we had "seen that movie" already, many times before.
  4. Never saw this before: Bill at around 1:45 is doing some really lazy bass-syncing Charlie at 1:50 is great. Mick is either singing live or doing some amazing lip-syncing.
  5. People who don't give a shit about their mistakes are usually the ones who have the final say in things. They figured that since they were in power, it wouldn't matter.
  6. What I meant to say was: Screw immigrants because the Dow is soaring?
  7. I think I've burnt my tongue on too many hot pizzas and impatient sips of coffee to know... Goddamn budgets... Now I'm trying to get a $175 3-day pass to Pitchfork through the budget committee. Not looking good. It's up against a $160 family season pass to the public pool.
  8. Beatles '66 was a fantastic book. Can't praise it highly enough. I'm going to have to make a photocopy of the Appendix in which they list the contents of each Beatles' jukebox. Started this one this morning.
  9. I don't get VOICE. My mom is an immigrant. Donald's wife is an immigrant. So - are they now under different rules if/when they commit crimes?
  10. ^^*note to self* I'm definitely a budget beer buyer - lately it's all been 12ers of Goose Island from Binny's @ $11. $15 per 12er is my ceiling.
  11. That's definitely a good price. Especially since a 6 pack of two hearted is $11. Which store?
  12. ^^ Definitely all over. Expensive as hell, but yeah.
  13. He did. http://a-six-demon-bag.blogspot.com/2013/02/neil-young-and-jawas.html Well, he at least threatened to sue. They settled.
  14. Did the Dead ever do a Franklin's Tower>Eyes, or vice versa? Seems that those two songs are cut from the same cloth...
  15. Thanks for the recommendation! I listened to this a ton over the weekend. Great stuff.
  16. This is great: http://jezebel.com/donald-trump-eats-his-steak-well-done-with-ketchup-lik-1792770173
  17. The men don't know but the little girls understand? Hmmm... Shouldn't it be: "Certain men have known for centuries and let's leave little girls out of this?" Doesn't have the same ring to it.
  18. The June '77 box I was referring to is the Winterland '77 box. I wants it. But, with the new May '77 box coming out, I'll have the following official releases: 4/30/77 (Download Series Volume 1) 5/5/77 (new box) 5/7/77 (new box) 5/8/77 (new box) 5/9/77 (new box) 5/11/77 (old box) 5/12/77 (old box) 5/13/77 (old box) 5/15/77 (old box) 5/17/77 (old box) 5/19/77 (Dick's Pick 29) 5/21/77 (Dick's Pick 29) 5/28/77 (To Terrapin: Hartford '77) So, I think that's probably more than enough...
  19. That first May '77 box used to be available as a download from dead.net, for $100 or so, which is how I got it. I thought it still was available, but now it's not. Probably to keep people focused on the new box? The only "old" boxset that's still available from the secondary market at a decent price is the Winterland '73 set, which Amazon lists at $105. All of the Dicks Picks are available on itunes. But none of the Dave's Picks are...
  20. I just don't understand the business model. Why stop producing something if there's demand for more? Especially when additional production (the facility to let purchasers download a file) doesn't cost anything other than upkeep?
