  1. Well, they did include a book on the Cornell show. But yeah, the Best Version description of every song grew tiresome.
  2. My two and four year olds love Franklin's Tower, which is known to them as "The Dew", and then they get into a tiff about who's "The Dew" (They each want to be The Dew), and then it's up to me to roll them away.
  3. I shit you not: My boxset was delivered at 4:20. My proof is my wife's rolled eyes and shaking head... Anyone wants an Apple Lossless dropbox of the 5/5/77 show, send me a PM. I'll have it up shortly.
  4. ^^ I've been seeing comments about loose damaged discs. I'm eagerly awaiting delivery.
  5. I love this kind of stuff, and can't get enough. Their sound - sounds a lot like a lot of other West Coast stuff. Reminds me directly of The Peanut Butter Conspiracy. That stuff is 2 parts Mamas and Papas, 1 part Jefferson Airplane, 3 parts wrecking crew. I wonder what the writer was getting at with "quickly corrupted" - That's my follow-up question.
  6. Been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely... time.
  7. I don't know if I've given up on it as much as we just can't find the urge to pull the trigger to start watching it again... I have all the episodes of this season just sitting on the DVR... It's not compelling enough to watch by myself. (If it's a show we can't watch together, I'd rather read). I don't know where we left off in season 2. We watched all of season 1, then it just died on the vine I guess. After viewing Sopranos, the Wire, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad, it's tough... It's such a high bar. Recently, I found a vid on you tube of the Nairobi Trio, which used to be a staple on th
  8. Good to know. Yeah, we're kind of "meh" on it so far. Been craving a good show lately. As much of an Odenkirk fan that I am, I just cannot get into Better Call Saul. Feud was good, not great. If we had Netflix, I'd be all over season 2 of Master of None. Season 1 was brilliant. We're enjoying Catastrophe on Amazon.
  9. This is the best thing that Weird Al never did. May the Fourth be with you!
  10. spoiler alert!!! I never know what nights what shows are on - I just set the DVR to record them and then we typically watch our shows over the weekend. Fargo is off to a better start this season - in that it's keeping to the general Coen theme of: Dumbasses who think they're due more than they're getting, so they make dumbass plan, and everything goes as cocked as possible. Season 2, with its organized crime war, went way outside of those bounds, IMHO. The one thing that's kind of grating now, is that Ewan McGregor and Michael Stuhlbarg seem to be doing their best impression of Will
  11. Dave's #22 is fantastic. I've listened to both shows now. I have to say - for someone who's not the biggest fan of "One More Saturday Night", the 12/7/71 version really rips. Got my notice for the May '77 box - to be delivered by end of day tomorrow. Fantastic.
  12. ^^Dang, have been waiting for my shipping notice. I had to order directly from the rhino store. Had a minor stroke the other day when I was looking for my receipt from dead.net, but couldn't find it. Thought I botched the order...
  13. ^^ Started listening to the Dec 6 show this morning on the train into work. Good stuff.
  14. I just started reading the book. I think I recorded the show.
  15. Watched the Stooges doc last night. Enjoyed it. Tonight I'm doing a rewatch of Rogue One, and tomorrow I get to finally see Silence.
  16. I was just thinking about Something Wild the other day as a result of discovering the band Suburban Lawns, for which Demme directed their first video: The lead singer has a cameo in Something Wild - as the wife of Jeff Daniels' co-worker, that he runs into at Melanie Griffith's class reunion (featuring The Feelies - great class reunion). Nice write-up by Rolling Stone.
  17. Kind of an unfortunate "exit through the gift shop" ending to that vid...
  18. The chapters in the recent Replacements book (Trouble Boys) when the 'Mats were the opening band for Petty does not paint a pretty picture (for anyone involved - neither the 'Mats nor TP & the HBs). Not only was TP's set-list the same every night (which is common knowledge by this point) but even the little between-songs asides to the audience the exact same every night, which Westerberg started to riff on after he got sick of it. Then I remembered some nasty comment that TP made to Tommy Stinton, something about bragging: who cares about spontaneity in the set-list when he was pulling
  19. This article says that Steve Miller, at least, had no say. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/steve-miller-on-black-keys-rock-hall-induction-i-was-gonna-ask-elton-20160415
  20. oof. ignorance is definitely bliss in this case.
