  1. How was it? I've been listening to their latest release quite a bit.
  2. From The Onion, of all places, in 2003. Great counterpoint, too. Christ.
  3. The new With Bob and David stuff is hit or miss, but the good stuff is very very funny. All Mr. Show fans should check it out
  4. That 2nd set is something else, especially from Big River on... I think that version of Big River is the best I've ever heard. The WRS prelude into Big Star is one of the most beautiful things they've done. Inspired playing that night.
  5. you're in the Chicago area, no? I'm in Downers Grove. You'll definitely get yours today.
  6. Dave's Picks 16. Got it in the mail yesterday. Good stuff. There's a few audio hiccups in the opener: Cumberland Blues, but they settle in quickly. Great show so far (I'm only about 1/2 way through the first set - this show has 30 songs!) I love the supplemental newspaper coverage included in the liner notes - especially the bit of the cops thwarting some dudes tying a chain from the arena's backdoor to a car - perhaps a young Navin Johnson trying to prevent some robbers from getting away?
  7. I grew some scotch bonnets a while back, and they just didn't have much heat. I think hot peppers need to suffer in hot climates.
  8. Thanks for taking he time to indulge us with your write-ups. You were my only link to the Cup, and I enjoyed it through your words.
  9. My tolerance for Anthony Bourdain is thinning, but I still think he takes the Cup for best travel/food show.
  10. I would probably enjoy this show if I could get past his voice.
  11. Speaking of Black Peter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSFEomvkAPQ Man, Jerry was only 43 in this clip. Looks 70. He aged so fast when he was on the junk.
  12. To be fair - a moderator should ask an open-ended question, and not such a framed and leading one. Why not follow up the statement with something like: What do you have to say about your opposition to it? or What does your opposition to it say about your leadership skills? They're asking a Yes or No question, containing the answer they're looking for, which isn't very informative for the audience. I'd be pissed at the question too.
  13. Re Fargo: So far, three episodes in, I'm enjoying season 2 a lot more than season 1. But, there's one stick in my craw, and I had the same complaint about season 1. (And from conversations I've had, I'm in the minority). The writers absolutely don't give a shit about geography. In season 1, the story centered on Bemidji and Duluth, and making it seem those two cities were in close proximity to each other. They're not - they're 150 miles away, a good 3 hour drive. Now, in season 2, the two cities that the story centers on are Fargo and Luverne, which are 250 miles apart. Why would a judge
  14. Sure, you tell us that you will tell us later, but one thing leads to another, ya ya ya.
  15. Shhhhh. That's crazy talk. (We make an annual trip to Ely right around labor day) But seriously, it's awful up there. Nobody should go. Ever.
