There was definitely a different vibe at the second show, but I loved it...almost more than the first night. My friend Stephen described it as a "slow burner", and I have to agree with that assessment!
-
*high five* Very cool meeting you and Wendy on Saturday! What did you think of the Sunday show?
-
I know I'll be outnumbered with this opinion, but I do not care for their live show. There's a ton of energy, sure, but after about ten minutes, I was like, "Okay, I get it". *shrug*

My first Wilco show is in there At last! And my first Tweedy solo show at Lounge Ax, twelve days after I moved to Chicago. Wow!
-
Very nice write-up, Whitty. I especially enjoyed your review of Real Emotional Trash - spot on (and Richard Avedon would surely approve). I'd also like to nominate "Furr" for "Best Use of Loon Calls in a Pop Song".
-
That looks absolutely fantastic.
-
The first show I saw when I moved to Chicago was Jeff solo at Lounge Ax. Wish it had been around longer.

Phish at Alpine is an experience I'd definitely like to repeat!
-
No Chicago show? SXSW it is, then...
-
I didn't know Jon Brion did the Synecdoche, NY soundtrack! Now I really have to go see it...
-
While I couldn't make the Chicago show last night (had tickets for Cinematic Titanic... ) they did let me in so I could pick up the Blood Bank EP. Unfortunately, I missed this part of the original post: I have to say, THAT'S KIND OF BOGUS, BON IVER! However, I can't hate on Justin too much, because he gave me , which has been on repeat all morning.
-
It's already on my best of 2008 list I can't make it to the show tonight, but I really want that EP...hm, maybe I can swing by and try to pick one up?
-
I agree, Field Rexx is probably my favorite of all their records.
-
It's killer live, though. *jinx* "Furr" was the track that grabbed me first, but I'd say my favorite is "God & Suicide" now.
-
Hey, man? It's just not that serious.
-
I have these framed above my bed. Very "his n hers"
-
Ah, go ahead. You know you wanna

Heh. Apparently the argument still has legs I would not have argued if someone heard it and wanted to put it on their EOY list last year. But I think it'll be on more EOY lists this year than last, simply because of the wider release in 2008.
-
Very nice! Thanks for posting.
-
I agree. It's a grower. Anyone else planning to hit up the Empty Bottle show?
-
This argument is so tired. Its official label release was February '08, and that's good enough for me.
-
This might be the year I go to JazzFest.
-
I didn't rank it #1, but I thought it was a pretty strong record front to back. Solid effort, certainly.
-
Very cool! Thanks for posting. If they put that Felice Brothers record up eventually, I'd encourage y'all to pick it up (if you don't have it already, which....well, you should ).
