I'll be at the Chicago show at Epiphany Episcopalian - anyone else?
-
I'm in.
-
I'll be there. Very much looking forward to it! The lineup looks much better to me now than it did at first.
-
Tenth row center at the Ryman. Yay!
-
Oh, I assumed the Hold Steady were the ones that were meant to be a step up from Kid Rock? Big "huh" either way. They're both great bands with an incredibly enthusiastic, sweaty, straightforward rockin' live show.

Nashville show: very, very good Louisville show: religious experience
-
I'll be at the Nashville and Chicago shows.
-
Does anyone know how big the Nashville venue is? I heard 10,000.
-
Will anyone else be doing the Nashville/Louisville weekend?

The Overture is a great place to see a show, as those of us who attended the Wilco show there last fall already know. I'll be there. Here's hoping for a Chicago date too! -
Yes, just yes.

He may very well have killed it at Pitchfork, but you couldn't hear a damn thing because the sound bleed from Spiritualized was so atrocious. I gave up after half a song. Curious, solace - sounds like a great bill with New Pornos, Cloud Cult, Bird, etc. - were there other stages going on at the same time? I think he'd do fine in front of a big crowd if the venue was appropriate. For instance, I think he'd have been a great addition to the Pitchfork preview show at the Pritzker last Thursday night.

Agreed - the music is so delicate and hushed, it's not a great fit for a festival. Even when I saw him at the teeny-tiny Lakeshore Theater earlier this year, the clinking of glasses at the bar in the lobby was distracting from the performance. Where do you think he should play in Chicago? I'd say maybe a seated show at the Vic.
-
It's teeny tiny. You'll likely be able to walk right up to the stage, which is only a foot or two tall. No lines for the bathrooms, in my experience (they're upstairs). Bring earplugs

Friday: Public Enemy set the tone for the weekend. It was everything I dreamed it would be. Mission of Burma was solid, but easily trumped by Public Enemy; Sebadoh was sadly kind of unmemorable. Saturday: I fully enjoyed Elf Power's set (they're one of my favorite, favorite bands); thought Jay Reatard was great fun; thought Titus Andronicus was okay; loved Fleet Foxes, but I think they're not the best choice for a festival act; I've seen them four or five times this year, and I think they need to mix up their setlist a bit and play more off the new record (Tiger Mountain Peasant

I'm interested in hearing "Love and Mercy" but I wish they'd thrown in a few more covers, too. Seems a little sparse.
-
I'm checking out the show tonight as well as Friday/Saturday/Sunday's festivities. Very much looking forward to Fleet Foxes, Elf Power, Jay Reatard, Dino Jr and Public Enemy!

Interesting...
-
I don't have the entire evening free on Thursday, but would love to catch some of the sets...so it's absolutely killing me that they haven't posted set times yet. I emailed Pitchfork about it, but I'm not holding my breath. I may wander over there during sound check; if I find out anything, I'll post it here.

They did that for me when I tried to get REM tickets. Weird. I don't think I'm going to any of these EV shows after all.
-
I got mine... For those of you doing the Nashville show, there's also a midnight showing of Dazed & Confused at the Belcourt that night. Just a suggestion.

Anyone ever see these earlier musical legends in conert?

Spooner's currently (well, occasionally) touring with the Drive-By Truckers. I'd label him a national treasure, too. -
This sounds pretty cool--New York/Chicago peeps

This sounds like so much fun. Might hit it up after Ale Fest. -
Interesting. Mark and Gary are playing the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival this year, too.
