  5. I understand. My intent was in no way malicious or mean spirited and I sincerely apologize if it was taken as such. My point was that something that had actual practical, specific value was adapted by society in general. Speaking of dumbed down, I lifted this from Wikipedia: Velcro is used in adaptive clothing, which is clothing designed for people with physical disabilities, the elderly, and the infirm who may experience difficulty dressing themselves due to an inability to manipulate closures, such as buttons and zippers
  6. I was losing to my son the other day in Scrabble. I couldn't believe it. We were playing on our phones. The game had an "Invalid Word" message, meaning no penalty, and unlimited license to "create words". got me to thinking, i mean, fast food joints have trained us to get our own drinks and clear the table...... not to mention: no child left behind automatic parking/ driving? velcro (originally created for special needs folks) thesaurus' Auto-Tune?? I just might be getting stupid by the sheer virtue of typing this.... other examples?? i

  11. a big fat ho-ho-ho to my friends here!!!! hope santa swung by your crib in the early mornin' hours! since i don't commence with the children until high noon, i peeked early (peaked early?) and checked out the amazon download lincoln offering. i've kind of grown fond of this every year and actually took a music purchase hiatus for the last two months - not easy- in anticipation of the goodies. i'm up to #310. a very very merry, gang!
  12. ok, i love this thread, but i gotta wonder as a nerd 82 minutes before midnight on xmas eve: shouldn't more prolific artists be recognized as a weighted avg? for example: stones % vs. saaaay,...pavement/ theads/ replacements maybe a stones 80 is better than a 'mats 88? of course, thers no easy way to level the playing field, and i'm lazy by nature. but i'm in for 94% on malkmus post pave
