  1. Not a big fan, tbh. Over-the-top & gawdy - almost comical.
  2. I was absolutely blown away by them opening with "Via Chicago" in LA, night #2.
  3. Yeah, I have a lot more appreciation now for the other forums I'm on where name changes have to go thru the admins first. Surprisingly, it's quite distracting reading stuff here now... and I never thought I paid much attention to the names.
  4. I have no problem with breastfeeding, even in public as long as it's done discreetly. That being said, this doll is just effing creepy. I freak out enough when my 3 yr old pretends she has a baby in her tummy... if she started to mock breastfeed, I'd probably lose it.
  5. Absolutely happy that the journalists were freed, no question about that - I just have a hard time believing that Pres. Clinton was instrumental in making that happen. The visit was well-orchestrated by the State Dept and I really think Clinton's job was to just stand there for the photo op (and not say anything dumb). If anything, it kinda makes me wonder why he was chosen to do the job (over Hillary, etc.) - is the Obama admin trying to tap in to the still-sizeable bank of good will that Clinton's built up among the democratic base? Is this a sign of a more active role for the former p
  6. Honestly, and I know I'm probably just being overly cynical about the health insurance industry, but the very first thing that came to mind when I read this was how this would be a convenient way for them to deny future claims. "in 2002-2003, your annual dr visits were 12.4 months apart. Since you did not fullfill the agreement to have annual appointments (annaul defined as no more than 12 months apart) your 2009 claim has been denied."
  7. yeah, but those drinkers are jumping to even worse swill like Natty Lite and Keystone - bleah!
  8. No, quite the contrary as it shows how both parties are more interested in keeping the healthcare industry happy rather than protecting it's citizens. Despite the fact that 72% of Americans say they want a public healthcare option, there's still a good chance it'll never happen. Infuriating. But the following passage highlights the emphasis of the story - the implications of having for-profit corporations in control of medical decisions, as told by someone who was a senior exec at Cigna for some 15 yrs. There's a lot of talk out there are how a public healthcare system would put
  9. Thanks. This should be required viewing for all - but especially for those who are opposed to a public healthcare option.
  10. Anyone here use Wilco lyrics in their FB status updates? I'll admit to using the following in the past "XX would like to rest his heavy head tonight on a bed of California Stars." "XX's goal in life is to be an echo." I've also used other bands/lyrics, like... "XX never travels far without a little Big Star" "XX is un chien andalusia!" It's always fun to see who 'gets' it and who tries to interpret a meaning. Any other lyrics that would work well?
  11. has anyone been able to pull this down in it's entirety? I've had it going for over 24hrs now and I'm only at 60%. Would someone with a complete copy kindly re-seed? (yes, I'm an impatient SOB ) (btw, thank you jmwils1 for recording it in the first place!)
  12. same here - almost makes me wish I still lived in MI.
  13. all-time, best US bands for me are: replacements uncle tupelo wilco husker du minutemen afghan whigs ramones REM sonic youth drive-by truckers pixies soul asylum and too early to say if they belong up there, but really love 'em: lucero tv on the radio bon iver
  14. be sure to catch at least one show on Broadway. it's somewhat touristy, but one of those things you need to do your first time in NYC. If you're on a tight budget and willing to "risk" it, you can get relatively cheap day-of tickets at the TKTS booth in Times Square. Supplies are limited and there's usually a line, but it's a good way to save a decent amount of cash.
  15. exactly. she'll do the book & public speaking tour and make a boatload of cash over the next 12 months or so. Not so sure about the TV show, though... only if she decides that her political career is over. I think she'll come across like Rachel Ray if she has an entire show to fill - not good if she wants to be the next pres. But she'll definitely be a regular pundit for the right on cable news, you betcha!
  16. so no recording of this show has surfaced? bummer...
  17. heard on the radio this morning that almost-son-in-law-until-she-lost-then-he-was-kicked-to-the-curb Levi is shopping a "tell all" book of his own.
  18. I liked it. A couple of scenes near the end were pretty implausible, but overall it was a good not-your-usual-gangster flick. Strong performances from Depp and Bale. 3/5 stars.
