  1. That's the first thing I thought when I read the thread title. Richard Manuel explained that in the last waltz, it was a reaction to all the "Chocolate Subway and Marshmallow overcoat" bands. I have learned, I had no idea where the name Wilco came from or that it even meant "Will comply".
  2. I just read that Jim Morrison's dad died very recently. I'm kind of amazed I have never seen him interviewed or anything. I just assumed he was dead already. Anyways, thanks for the heads up, looks like a film I want to see.
  3. Ha! I guess your right. An intro kind of implies the song changes after the beginning. I guess I just like how each instrument comes in one at a time. We did Cortez the Killer once for 10:47 and I think I threw my guitar everywhere.
  4. Yo La Tengo - Pass the Hatchet, I think I'm goodkind
  5. RE: Animal Collective - I was wondering if I should pick this up. Is it worth it? Pitchfork gave it 9.7 or something.
  6. Listened to "All shook down" on the way to work and "Stink" on the way home. Thanks to the snow I got through both of them completely. The difference between them is jarring...
  7. True, could have been yet another tab of "Sweet Home Alabama".
  8. Great advice Zero. So many musicians throw away something because they think it's too simple or an overdone chord progression. If you listen to "Sky Blue Sky, several songs are just your common A, C, D chords with a Capo on the 4th fret. The brilliance is in the lyrics and melodies Jeff Lays down. The reason I mentioned listening to Guided by voices (or any Pollard for that matter) earlier is that the guy is just fearless about music. Yeah, it does not always work but he comes up with some jewels. That total freedom is tough though.

  10. "Tim Raines and Randy Bass helped the 1980 Denver Bears win the regular season championship with ease. In doing so, the duo helped the team compile the American Association
  11. There's a once in a lifetime experience. A couple of legends in the same night. Very cool.
  12. I actually bought this one when I was in Minneapolis last year (seemed like the thing to do) and it never really stayed in rotation. Saw Tommy in a small club in Denver and the songs sounded great live. Not sure I gave it enough time.
  13. OK, since I'm a "Guitar Bitch" as someone put it I feel I should add a few I like that start with Drums: Any live intro by Bun E. Carlos - if that's not allowed than I'll settle on "Ain't that a shame" from Budakon. When the Levee Breaks - Zep Nightflight to Venus - Boney M
  14. Change my guitar strings. I don't aim too high.
  15. Rolling Stone will give it 5 stars no matter what anyways.
  16. Oohhh, been wanting to see this one. It's the vampire one right? Good to here it's worth seeing.
  17. I love the Foo Fighters. Not sure how someone could not like at least the first 2 albums. One of those bands where going deeper in the mix pays off. I just felt somebody needed to defend em! Nirvana sound like Whitney Houston----not even kind of.
  18. Listening now, not bad at all! Now can you do the Cure song that sounds the same!
  19. Agreed. I love the line "Choking on the ashes of her enemies..."
  20. Mmmmm...I loves me some Jenna Fischer
  21. Ah, I remember when the Yardbirds would not be in an Antonioni flick! http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/2008/12/30...blow-up-1966-2/
  22. YEP! Have a Cigar - Pink Floyd Stay with me - The Faces
  23. He is human and he needs to be loved... Is that really the cover?
  24. I agree and the intent is to not pick for her but this does give me ideas and where to try to lead her. I tend to be too biased so an outside perspective is good. If nothing else I can throw out some names she has never heard of and she will have to go research and learn about them herself to see who she wants to choose. It does not have to be someone who influenced positively but I told here that's the way I would probably go. There's enough negativity out there! Great suggestions! Thanks everyone and feel free to keep em coming.
  25. Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) - Hendrix Love Spreads - Stone Roses
