  1. i have gotten unsolicited mail from Bloomberg three days in a row now.
  2. you could ask the same thing about gun control. it's more about starting to change the direction than pull a 180 just as you take the steering wheel.
  3. yep. i can't imagine the self-hubris to be pissed off enough not to vote regardless of who is on the Dem ticket.
  4. i would be fine w/ a Warren/Sanders ticket too. also, here's my solution to cleaning up the debate format: All candidates would receive a mild electric shock whenever they interrupt whomever is speaking. Once they get 5 shocks, the voltage steps up.
  5. WRP are you going to the local show here on the 22nd?
  6. i think the last season i saw was right before the one that focused entirely on the prison riot. seemed like it had lost a lot and wasn't a big draw anymore (but when it was good, it was really good... some of those characters were so excellent).
  7. i had no idea Reverb sold records too. yeah, dealing w/ anal-retentive people who argue over record grading can be a hair-pulling experience, and it's probably best to be really conservative in rating them.
  8. a friend told me that Drag City isn't part of the RIAA so their artists are under no consideration. i mean, in the grand scheme of things a tiny percentage of people who watched the Grammys would know who DCB was, but to a lot of people who did, he was more important than Neil Peart to them (myself included and I like Rush).
  9. 2010 i believe, Gary. Thanks! I would love to be able to add to your office's decor once again!
  10. I thought Tyler was great. I actually enjoyed the Lil Nas X bit too. Prince died nearly three years ago; they hadn't already done a tribute to him?
  11. without airfare, it was roughly 2K, maybe a tad over... it's certainly not cheap. and thanks all for the kind words about my work. I def put a lot of effort into it for very little monetary return (but that's not why i do it) and it's nice to hear such lovely feedback.
  12. it would have been awesome for Yo La Tengo to join Kamasi for an encore full of Sun Ra songs.
  13. Thanks! that is one of the conundrums about photos... the camera's resolutions are getting so much larger but the vast majority of the images are viewed via a phone screen... when i am editing them on my 4K 27" monitor, it's a very different experience than looking at them via my iphone (and sometimes glaring focus or noise issues magically disappear when viewing via the phone!).
  14. tbh they ended up being better than i expected; i recall listening to one of their early records a fair bit back in the day and caught a couple of songs at Newport Folk a few years ago, but they were at (at least imo) a distinct disadvantage for having to follow Kamasi's set, which was stunning. I did end up seeing most of the Dr Dog set.
  15. excellent write up. is Matrix the guy w/ the glasses and beard who has a bandana on his head a lot?
  16. i really wanted to see Led Zeppelin 2 when we landed on Thursday but NFW. enjoy the show!
  17. Thanks TCP! It's a Chunket shirt (same guy who did the We're All In This Together shirts) that says Vinyl is killing the MP3 industry. i have one of those stickers on the hood of one of my lenses, though now it's mostly obscured by a weedian sticker i got last week. thanks Brownie, i think i can safely speak for everyone that it was a really great experience. thanks Paul! and i really do appreciate your recaps, which are full of detail (i will admit to cribbing some notes from yours, ta!). there were a lot of photos but i went through a lot of the selection process on the flight home (on
  18. stunningly great time! http://bigtakeover.com/concerts/WilcosSkyBlueSkyHardRockRivieraMayaCancunMexico1821January2020
  19. i bought a CD copy of Anodyne for a work friend of mine who i thought might like it... can't recall why i chose that one tbh. but he burned me a copy and away i went! still bummed it took me a long time to finally see Wilco play live (saw them on the YHF tour), but I had moved out of the city by '96 and didn't see as many shows.
  20. did you see the total trainwreck that was his Vegas show, from two weeks ago? good god that was brutal.
  21. we all would have been better off had they pulled a Skynyrd in 1978 or so.
  22. likewise paul, great to put a face to the person who is relentless with the excellent show recaps! YLT nailed it... they totally grooved on my favorite period of their discography.
