  2. yeah, i dig it! a bit of Thinking Fellers vibe going on.
  3. jff, what band were you in? here are a couple of photos of their gear...
  4. thanks! that's Mark Pearson, who used to play in Neptune. he and his wife moved down to NC a few years ago and i think the band kinda stopped... Jason Sanford is doing E (a band called E) w/ Thalia Zedek now. Neptune's claim to fame is that they made all their own gear. the guitars were made from scrap metal.
  5. If you are on Facebook and want to possibly get a 10x15 print of your choice, check it out. https://www.facebook.com/TinnitusPhotography/posts/1767724156593770
  6. Imagine if you were a King Crimson fan.... between Red and Islands you would be in for 51 CDs.
  7. Were they legendary in a Complete sort of way?
  8. That’s 15-20 years ago and not what pitchfork is pitching.
  9. comparing just about any band to the Jesus Lizard is a fool's errand. nevermind some band no one's ever heard of.
  10. i saw Zoolander a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a while. still holds up (except for the cameos of fuckface trump)
  11. if you live on the east coast, you can thank Henry in person in the coming year... he's on a short tour w/ Bardo Pond and Major Stars (though sadly us Bostonians won't get to see Bardo Pond... it's been too long!!) http://www.brooklynvegan.com/chunklets-henry-owings-released-a-comedy-record-touring-w-bardo-pond-bv-qa/
  12. no, i don't know her. the closest i've come to that was being hit on the head by the douchebag from Iceage's guitar neck. here is my theory - Josh was really fucked up (he cut his forehead later in the show). for QOTSA shows, there are clear lines in the photo pit that you can't cross, so you end up shooting from either edge of the stage. the show they played last night was a radio show, and it wasn't their show. i asked a photog friend who was there what the shooting conditions were, and he told me those lines weren't there. maybe Josh expected them to be there and didn't realize it and
  13. i guess they are playing to the market, w/ hip-hop being the most popular form of music today. that said, aside from a few acts like Kendrick Lamar, i find virtually none of it appealing to me.
  14. i know two of the songs (Slowdive, St. Vincent). p4k always tries to come off as trying too hard to show it's on pop culture. hard pass.
  15. over JRAD? Bowery asked me to shoot the LCD show but i was planning on going to NH and i'm here now. have fun
  16. i hadn't read the review when i posted, which was probably dumb on my part, but yeah - alt-country arms race? i guess it's the same lazy writing style that pops up whenever Pollard releases a new record (like, monthly) and the 'ex 4th grade teacher' and 'alcoholic ex sports star' and 'needs an editor' comments pop up in every review.
  17. enjoy! there is a vol 2 out there as well. man do i love Fahey. and speaking of, two days ago was the anniversary of the late Jack Rose's passing. such a great loss.
  18. and for this i need to apologize to Kevin G for my post.
  19. but the recording still has relevance to that split, right? i don't review records anymore, but i think it's a bit unfair to judge reviews written right after a release (esp one that turns out to be a landmark) with the benefit of elapsed time. of course some reviewers get it right, but probably not that many. and how many times do you think Schreiber listened to BT before writing that review, as opposed to any of us in the present day?
