  1. they went the other way... two bass players this tour. Steve McDonald (Redd Kross, OFF!) and Jeff Pinkus (Butthole Surfers). sounded fucking awesome. great cover of "Sway" that i wasn't expecting. i also got the band to autograph a tour-only LP since i knew a guy in the opening band, and Pinkus couldn't have been nicer. hell, they all were, though Buzz was preoccupied w/ his phone.
  2. i didn't know the band at all and just briefly met them at Newport two summers ago... man, what a friendly, easygoing band. really sad news to hear that Scott wasn't able to overcome his struggles. he got instant cred points from me for giving the correct answer to 'who is the best Scottish band of all time.' RIP Scott. let your music live on.
  3. i was thinking of getting one but haven't pulled the trigger yet... at age 52, it's probably too late however, personally i'd never get any sort of text in a tattoo.
  4. i had 4th row tickets in my cart until i realized i'm out of town that night. dammit.
  5. Walken has warmed me a bit when played live. still don't like "Hate It Here."
  6. i find this is a record you need to spent a fair amount of actively listening. it's low key, but there is a lot there. give it some time.
  7. saw Obituary last night... they were awesome (though i left early because a 4 band bill on a sunday is a brutal way to start the week).
  8. he also made a reference to Kicking Television on the game just played. also, bonus points for an oblique reference to Jon Wurster via Rock, Rot and Rule.
  9. after hearing the new record, i am pretty psyched about seeing the Breeders in two nights. it's really excellent.
  10. Yo La Tengo starting their European tour. Maybe the best set I’ve seen them play.
  11. the dropping of this record tmrw is gonna be the direct cause of a worldwide weed shortage come Monday.
  12. Ailes, O'Reilly, and now Hannity - Fox News sure knows how to hire 'em.
  13. this is true, afaik. rosenstein does have legal authority (with due cause) to fire Mueller. trump can fire rosenstein, install a stooge and have that old white guy fire Mueller on some trumped up charge. the end.
  14. the problem with those pink floyd tribute bands is their totally unimaginative set list choices.
  15. the last time i saw the Stooges, the lineup went: The Scientists (first-ever US gig) > Mudhoney > The Stooges > Sleep yeah, that was ridiculous. Arm mentioned "I still can't believe we are in the middle of a Scientists and Stooges sandwich."
  16. those backing vocals are pretty grating, though.
  17. i was not old enough to see them before they broke up, but i had the chance to see them 4 times when they reformed and it was always an amazing rock show.
  18. all i remember was the Roll Royces that dude had. yeah that shit was cray-cray. loved the documentary. brought up some very good points to consider. next time you see him, tell him i say hello.
