  9. http://www.thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-releases/flying-nun-the-untold-story-of-a-trailblazing-indie-label/ i must say that _A Beard Of Bees_ by This Kind Of Punishment is one of my favorite records of all time, and i am supremely happy to have tracked down an actual LP copy ~20 years ago. never seen another one (original, that is... Ajax reissued it in the early 90s)
  10. That comp was assembled by Bruce Russell (Dead C) so it'll be a bit more esoteric and challenging than say, Pink Flying Saucers Over The Southern Alps.
  11. oh yeah.... that what's in my bag session is great! glad to see him give some props to ODB as well as the Flying Nun comp; FN is one of my favorite labels of all time. still on the hunt for some of the early releases....
  12. Tweedy, Stirratt, Coomer, Bennett, Egan and maybe the violinist too? it sounded like there was some audience baiting and freewheeling going on... interested to hear it!
  13. after reading this book, i am interested in finding good '97-'98 boots from that era... anyone point me in the right direction?
  14. You think Neil gives a shit about what you think?
  15. Musings from a friend in Detroit Bassist wanted to be in a rap rock band, drummer was all 2s and 4s using every limb at the same time so white like mashed potatoes white, one kid kept using his bow on everything but you couldn't even hear it they all had stupid hats, and the guitar-guitarist played his instrument ably like a super straight boring guitar teacher might -- also used his teeth like FOUR TIMES. Just horrible.
  16. you know it's a Wilco board when there are six pages and not a single mention of Tony Iommi. might as well list mine.... Iommi (basically invented an entire genre, the true six string king) Steven R Smith (Hala Strana, Ulaan Khol, Mirza, Thuja, solo, etc - woefully underrated) John McGeoch (Magazine, Siouxsie and the Banshees) Neil Young Jack Rose Thurston and Lee (impossible to separate on their own) Donald 'Buck Dharma" Roeser (Blue Oyster Cult; the best soloist out there) Zoot Horn Rollo (Captain Beefheart's Magic Band) Johnny Marr (The Smiths) i'll list another 10 later.
  17. i wish for more of this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rrfbLHrnJI
  18. yeah the interview was done shortly after AGIB was released... cool little time capsule!
