  1. cassettes are gross, fwiw. the only ones i have are ones that were only released on that format (all the Xpressway material from New Zealand, _Time's Incinerator_ from Soul Asylum, a bunch of stuff on Teen Beat, etc).
  2. YHF AGIB BT STSBS TWL W(TA) AM i can't rank Star Wars yet since i have not listened to it that much at all. first listened sounded good, though. My first Wilco CD i bought was BT.
  3. I am, but it's a soundboard shoot and my friend who lets me borrow those $10K lenses that i only use once or twice a year is out on vacation, so i don't expect much of quality.
  4. Duane Betts is a nice addition to Dawes' live show. that bass player pulls some really goofy Geddy Lee faces though.
  5. CDs are dead. Dead format. comparing LPs to CDs back in the day when there wasno digital in the mix is a non-starter.
  6. buying a CD today feels like buying an 8 track tape in 1983.
  7. Yo La Tengo: No Water Fog Over Frisco Blue Line Swinger Deeper Into Movies Everyday
  8. good interview. and we got an answer about why they didn't have any of the Wilco (The Album) songs on those roadcase releases.
  9. this is a lot harder than i thought.... i am sure i'll miss a ton but here's one to start (the entire song is a fretboard frenzy of activity) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg1i6Y-ybTw here's another one, esp at the 26:45 mark... i love the fuzz that breaks down into the brooding part that erupts two minutes later. is this the first mention of a solo that's by a woman? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsKgltFHIEY
  10. the price of vinyl is pretty expensive... i just put out a record that a friend's band did, and though it was small and we didn't have economies of scale, after everything was said and done the cost per LP was about $10.
  11. Maybe Daryl Hannah can produce the next one, and use a bit more Dubly.
  12. a snippet of video i recorded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6xgenrKoto
  13. "John the Dwarf Wants to Become an Angel" should have been a massive hit. massive.
  14. J Mascis playing Dylan's guitar that rocked Newport 50 years ago.
  15. day 2 coverage of NFF, with a link to Day 1 https://digboston.com/newport-folk-festival-why-sufjan-stevens-should-have-headlined-day-2/
  16. i was hoping the rumors of Neil Young would come true.
  17. i didn't know that existed. i bought the 7" w/ "Revolution Blues" from Lee after the show i saw in early 2014.
  18. i'll be there again this year. looking forward to it.
  19. http://www.thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-releases/flying-nun-the-untold-story-of-a-trailblazing-indie-label/ i must say that _A Beard Of Bees_ by This Kind Of Punishment is one of my favorite records of all time, and i am supremely happy to have tracked down an actual LP copy ~20 years ago. never seen another one (original, that is... Ajax reissued it in the early 90s)
  20. That comp was assembled by Bruce Russell (Dead C) so it'll be a bit more esoteric and challenging than say, Pink Flying Saucers Over The Southern Alps.
  21. oh yeah.... that what's in my bag session is great! glad to see him give some props to ODB as well as the Flying Nun comp; FN is one of my favorite labels of all time. still on the hunt for some of the early releases....
