  1. I hear ya and totally agree. But what is realistically going to change at this moment in time, especially with Trump as our president? If nothing changed after 6-year-olds were killed at Sandy Hook school, I don't see anything changing now. Ban guns! I am a lone voice and don't know how to change things. I continue to vote for those who support such issues but they don't win in my voting district.
  2. The Jets are 2-2 while the Giants are 0-4. I wouldn't have predicted that!
  3. Shocked to wake up to this.... Terrible, terrible news. People are insane. What is a realistic way to protect the audience at an event like this? I can't think of any. I get a chill thinking of all the outdoor concerts I've been to that are in close proximity to very tall buildings - a handful of those just in the past few months.
  4. Good luck to you in your new job, Craig!
  5. I've read three of them: R.E.M. Murmur (very good), Big Star Radio City (very good), and Oasis Definitely Maybe (don't remember a thing about it, so maybe not so good.) I forgot all about this series. They are a quick read.
  6. The Jets look dreadful. The Broncos look great.
  7. I know you were teasing, No worries. I do wonder why the Giants went and signed the Jets cast-off, Geno Smith, who is worthless.
  8. I dunno...everyone around me is also a life long Jets fan. It's just one of those things, right? You grow up with it, it comes from your family, etc. A friend of mine used to have season tickets, until the new stadium required seat licenses and he could no longer afford them. Their practice field is less than 10 miles from my house. :/
  9. Life long Jets fan. I have no idea why.
  10. Ha! Exactly what I was going to say! Good for you, Craig. I had the opportunity to speak to Michael Stipe a few times back in the 80's, and while he was always pleasant and friendly, each time he struck me as a really odd bird. (Although a pleasant and friendly one!)
  11. I think Chameleon Days is among the best things he's ever done. I had it playing in my car this morning and it about blew my head off. The piano hook, his voice, the imagery at the end about the sky and the water. Breathtakingly beautiful.
  12. I saw one too! I did not know there was such a creature, and when I saw it hovering over one of my flower pots, I got up and went over saying "What are you??". (This really did happen.). I didn't think it was a bird, but couldn't imagine what else it could be. Hence my exasperated question posed to a creature who could not answer me. A little googling helped me out. And yes, it was delightful to watch!
  13. So did Trump do these things in the middle of a hurricane because he thought people wouldn't pay as much attention to them, or because he wanted to take attention away from the hurricane and put it back on him? All I know is last evening I was watching news coverage of a terrible storm, then all of a sudden Trump's face was plastered all over my TV yet again, and storm coverage went by the wayside for the most part. The news anchors did say that some of these things happened earlier in the day but were intentionally withheld for release to the media until later. Disgusting.
  14. "And you don’t just have to buy the album once; you can buy the album many times across different retailers and get a boost each time. Which means you can buy Reputation on Taylor Swift’s site, you can buy it at Walmart.com, you can buy it at Target.com, you can buy it on iTunes, and each time you’ll receive a boost. The “pre-order and purchase boosts” are limited to 13 total across retailers." *rolls eyes* And even after you buy your 13 copies of her album, you're still not guaranteed a ticket. Good thing I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, because I wouldn't be one any longer after reading thi
  15. I just watched Trump's speech in Phoenix. I have never seen anything like that before in my life. I am literally speechless. "CNN is turning off its camera" ---- as I watched the entire thing on CNN. "WTF?" doesn't even cover it any more.
  16. At its most general, I interpret the quote as saying it is good to be open minded about things. Anything else political, I'd save for the Politics thread. I like the song a lot, both musically and lyrically.
  17. Wow, didn't recognize him! Very nice of him to stop for a photo!
  18. Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie
  19. The $25 ticket is for a balcony seat at the Beacon Theater for Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie (tomorrow night, actually). I flat out refused to pay $120 or whatever it was for orchestra. I grumbled when my "$25" ticket turned out to really be $37, although that is still a reasonable price. Just say it's $37 up front for pete's sake!
  20. And obviously even NYC is not consistent in percentages from show to show, or even for different price points for the same show. The service charges on your Clapton tix were 23% and 18%, respectively, both less than the percentages I mentioned above, which are both also for NYC shows and purchased within the past two months.
  21. Not in my experence, no. I recently paid a $22.50 service charge for a $79.50 ticket (28%) and a $12 service charge on a $25 ticket (48% !!!!!!!!!).
  22. Bruce Springsteen - 39 shows on Broadway over an 8 week period this fall. Tickets through Ticketmaster: $75 - $850 $850!!!! *chokes*. I wonder what the ticketmaster service charge is for an $850 ticket?
  23. Yes, he is! Tonight was the first time I saw him play with a band in probably 20 years. I had never seen Los Straitjackets before - they are really something else (*laughs*) and did a fantastic job as Nick's band,
  24. Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets
