  1. I love Car Seat Headrest. Please report back about them.
  2. I am so, so sorry to hear this Craig.
  3. I thought it was a good game. It wasn’t a blowout, so that kept it interesting. For most of the game, since no one was scoring, I was kind of on the edge of my seat (rooting for NE), because I knew any score by either team was going to be hard for the other team to counter. The last few minutes were the least exciting of the game, because LA just seemed to fold.
  4. Wow, so sorry to hear this. I can’t believe even lawyers are temps now. (All that tuition money!!! I feel your pain!) I’m glad I bailed out of law school after one semester.
  5. I thought Steve Coogan was perfect as Stan Laurel. Great film!
  6. I always look forward to the conference championships and think those are among the best games of the year. The Super Bowl can be hit or miss, but the conference championships are almost always exciting games with pretty evenly matched teams. This past Sunday was fantastic.
  7. I’ve seen that before on my phone. I have an old Samsung Android phone that does everything I need it to do except buy tickets through Ticketmaster. Good luck on your quest for tickets. Wish I could go but work sadly will not allow that.
  8. Too funny. I’ve been a high school chemistry teacher for 15 years. Worked in industry for many years before I became a teacher.
  9. 1) Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey at City Winery Loft 2) Neko Case at Town Hall
  10. Dean Wareham & Cheval Sombre
  11. This album is proving to be a grower for me. I’ve had it on repeat for several hours over each of the past two days and it is slowly revealing itself to me. I love I Know What It’s Like, and Let’s Go Rain is creeping up there in status as well.
  12. Neko Case Neil & Liam Finn Elvis Costello
  13. I am old. Most of my pre-internet music discoveries were from hearing bands on college radio stations, reading about them in music magazines, and by word of mouth. Initially (1990’s-2000’s), the internet gave me more exposure to word of mouth via message boards very much like this one, but music magazines and in-store listening kiosks also helped greatly. The last ten years have become information overload. There are no more music stores, but with all of youtube and spotify, there is endless choice and so I find I listen to less new music because it is simply overwhelming and there aren’
  14. Thanks chuckrh. It’s nice to hear the perspective of someone who is a fan of all three acts (Finn, FM, Petty). I am one of the biggest Neil Finn fans on the planet, but am having a very hard time coming to terms with his joining this band. I was a big FM/Stevie fan 35 - 40 years ago, but over the years came to focus mainly on Lindsey’s solo work, so that contributes to my struggle with the current situation. It sounds like a good night of music. . Not sure I want to blow $200+ on it though.
  15. Got the book in the mail today. Looking forward to reading it, hopefully I’ll get to it this weekend!
  16. Peter Holsapple & Chris Stamey
  17. She’ll be fine. She has survived much worse than this.
  18. I think it’s pretty clear that Joey has been going for the brass ring. Ironically, I think he would be held in higher esteem in the music industry if he had stayed the course and stuck to what he’s really good at. Joey is a great soundscape artist, and many of the recordings he has had a hand in are among my favorite things in the world. But a world class songwriter/hitmaker, not so much.
  19. OMG what an amazing song. I have seen Calexico many times, but never got to see them play this. I have a live recording that even blows this recording out of the water. Whatever happened to that Calexico? sad face.
  20. Sounds fantastic! I love the Feelies. I can probably guess what some of those covers were based on songs they’ve recorded over the years (Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey or The Inner Light, Paint it Black, Dancing Barefoot). What Neil Young song did they do?
  21. It’s not live, but this afternoon I’m going to the Velvet Underground Experience exhibit in NYC. http://velvetunderground-experience.com I honestly have no idea what to expect. But I love this band, so it should be worthwhile.
