  1. I love the Moody Blues and saw them many times back in the day. Seventh Sojourn is my favorite, but there are songs I love on all of their albums. I saw Justin Hayward solo a couple of years ago and it was just as good as seeing the Moodies!
  2. Wow, another brutal loss. He was only 62. http://variety.com/2017/music/news/pat-dinizio-smithereens-dead-1202638793/ Meet the Smithereens always makes me smile. So many of my favorite artists have died that it is starting to become painful for me to put my music on shuffle.
  3. Via Chicago.. It wasn’t that agonizing!
  4. Magnetized and kidsmoke, I totally agree with both of you. We need people like Al Franken in the Senate. No one is perfect, and I think for him in particular, the good greatly outweighs the bad. WHY IS NO ONE GOING AFTER TRUMP FOR HIS BEHAVIOR????
  5. I agree, and do not understand why this is not happening!!!!??
  6. Having only ever seen Daniel Craig as James Bond before seeing this, I could not stop laughing out loud! I enjoyed this a lot too.
  7. Here is an article from a little over a year ago which seems to indicate record companies are losing interest in providing download cards because few people redeem them, and they prefer the vinyl buyers use a streaming service if they want to hear a digital version: http://www.vinylmeplease.com/magazine/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-those-download-cards-in-vinyl-records/
  8. Maybe it is not so standard any more. I know the Neil Finn album released a couple of months ago also did not include downloads with the vinyl. I can’t offer any additional evidence as I stopped buying vinyl a few years ago.
  9. I know the Giants are terrible this year, and perhaps it is time for Eli Manning to retire, but to bench him so Geno Smith can take his position is an incredible slap in the face to him. Geno Smith is perhaps one of the worst quarterbacks I have ever seen. This is actually a fun year to be a Jets fan, because we can legitimately laugh at the Giants for a change.
  10. I was shocked to read about that last night. I was at his last ever show, apparently.
  11. If I had to choose between first six and last six, it would definitely be first six, although I don't like Document and Green all that much. I do love Out of Time, but after that, I only really like several songs from the albums and never truly embraced any of them. I can honestly say I hate Monster. (p.s, Chronic Town EP needs to be on that first list!)
  12. Sparsely attended was nice for a change, although I felt bad for Howe that there were so few people there. And at least one of those attending was a Giant Sand member, so someone he knows well. I liked the venue a lot and it was pretty painfree to get there. I will definitely return there. Enjoy the Paris concert tonight. Many, many years ago, a friend of mine would talk about Giant Sand all the time, but he never played any of the music for me. I hate to admit that I discovered Howe by accident after getting into Calexico years ago and then working backwards. I used to like both eq
  13. Howe was AWESOME!! Absolutely loved him. There were only 20 people there! (And chairs!). I seriously hope those Monty Hall shows are simulcast on WFMU or it was really not worth his time to play there.
  14. Have a great time! I would love to see Hamilton, but that's not likely to happen any time in the foreseeable future. Even seeing a bunch of high school kids perform one song from it convinced me that it's great!
  15. Yep! I am quite looking forward to it...I have never seen Howe although I've been a fan for years and years.
  16. I know the Jets are usually punching bags for the Patriots, but they were robbed yesterday. That game should have been tied at that point.
  17. The new Live at at Maxwells album sounds terrific - better than I'd dared hope for. Always on the hairy edge of falling apart but managing to hold it together. Just how I like my Westerberg.
  18. Wilco covers Tom Petty last night: https://pitchfork.com/news/watch-wilco-cover-tom-pettys-the-waiting/ Apologies if this has been posted already, but it's been one of those weeks. I really enjoyed this cover. I have been feeling that Tom got short shrift on the news due to wall to wall Las Vegas coverage, so spent some time on you tube last night reminiscing over my favorite TP songs. I had totally forgotten about Listen to Her Heart - what a great song!
  19. I saw that tour as well. I thought Tom Petty was so much better than Bob Dylan that night! I was never a huge fan, but I remember being at a craft show about 10 years ago and they were playing some sort of "Tom Petty's Greatest Hits" and it was just one great song after another. I realized then how much I really did like his music. I only saw him twice, the tour with Dylan and once even earlier that in early 1983. I really enjoyed the Traveling Wilburys as well...spent many fun nights jamming with some friends playing Wilburys tunes. *edited to fix typos. Darn small font size!*
  20. Another one gone way, way too soon. Why are all these guys dying in their 60's?! Sorry to hear.
