  1. As a Calexico fan who started with The Black Light back when it was released, I am very interested to hear the thoughts of someone who discovered the band with the Thread That Keeps Us. They are a completely different band now, so I am truly curious to hear your thoughts on the old stuff.
  2. Giants lost a heartbreaker today. Who would have ever predicted a 63 yard field goal clearing the goal posts with 1 second left in the game?
  3. No, I don’t. But I thought your initial post was questioning having a calendar at all, even a current one. The only time I ever saved calendars was for a few years in the 90’s when I knew I wanted to harvest some of the artwork for framing. I eventually did that, and those calendars are long gone. I don’t think I ever looked at what was written on them the entire time I had them once a new year started. Every Jan 1, the old calendar goes into recycle and the new one goes up on the wall.
  4. Oh come on, in 1982, if you had a life to keep track of, you had a calendar. Don’t you have an electronic calendar? I actually do still have a kitchen wall calendar that duplicates my electronic calendar, mainly because I like the monthly change of artwork!
  5. So did I!! Why did he save his calendars? I didn't watch much of the hearing and only heard on the news that he had 35-year-old calendars. Who saves their calendars??
  6. Sad to hear this. . I have always loved Marty’s voice.
  7. What a beautiful room, and a beautiful collection! Hope you have some comfy seating at the end of the room we can’t see?
  8. Holy cow, I did not know this collaboration existed until just this minute when I had to answer my question “Who the heck is Arthur Buck?” Two of my favorite artists and I did not know! I obviously live in a cave!
  9. Now watching Paul McCartney streaming live from Grand Central Station!
  10. I go back to work tomorrow (teaching) after a long summer break, so I honestly can’t complain that I spent half the day working. I’ve been spending the rest of the day relaxing and watching baseball!
  11. I loved BlackkKlansman and look forward to seeing Juliet, Naked when it makes its way to a local theater. I did not read the book (did not even know it existed), but felt the character of Rob in High Fidelity was me! I saw Searching the other day and really enjoyed that. It has a very interesting point of view - 100% of the movie takes place on a computer or cell phone screen. I thought it would be awkward but it was fascinating.
  12. I got that screen on my iPad briefly the other day, I assumed it was when the site was moving to a new server? But I came back later and everything was, and has been, normal. Perhaps it’s a cookie issue? Although I did nothing to my cookies to get rid of that screen - it was just gone next time I came here. Sorry I can’t be helpful!
  13. Holy cow Craig, I’m so sorry!
  14. Wow, that’s bad news. Glad I got to see them a couple of times over the years. One of my favorite bands.......
  15. One year after Charlottesville.... I went to see BlacKkKlansman today. Normally I would write about this in a different thread, but this film left me gasping, and needs to be mentioned here. I can’t believe what Spike Lee put into a major motion picture that I saw at my local mulitplex. 10 stars!
  16. Over time, one gets to know which artists repeat setlists and which ones shake it up more. It never enters my mind to see the set repeaters multiple times on a tour. Especially in this day and age with internet discussion groups and online setlists, it’s hard to NOT know which way any given artist leans. I don’t need to hear a completely different set of songs, but I wouldn’t be interested in hearing the exact same setlist. Waste of money even more than a waste of time.
  17. This is a new documentary about Trump and the Russians being released on August 31: https://activemeasures.com/ I saw the director of this film interviewed on CNN the other night. He is a fairly young guy from NY whose Dad used to be friendly with Trump, and he’s been thinking “this guy really loves Russians” for many years. He traced the Russian relationship back to the 80’s, and came to the conclusion that Manafort has been laundering money for the Ukraine oil trade over a year ago. The last interview for the film was done last September. Watch the trailer on that website, it is very
  18. The way he backpedalled today came across so amateurish, didn’t it? At this point I’m finding it incredible this man was able to run any kind of successful business. If I wasn’t an American, I would be laughing my head off over the events of the last two days.
  19. I saw Sorry To Bother You yesterday. “Bizarre” does not even begin to cover it. *laughs hysterically*. I give it a somewhat hesitant thumbs up (if you are into “outrageous!” LOL), but it’s definitely not for everyone.
  20. Creepy!! It had to happen with some deceased artist at some point. *shakes head* I’ll stay home and watch A Black and White Night instead.
  21. $30 round trip to Penn Station, plus at this time of day I have to change trains in Newark. No thanks! My standard thing is to drive to Hoboken and take PATH. Not at this time of day, not even to Secaucus. Not worth the stress to sit in that traffic. Have fun!
  22. Maybe I’ll try that tomorrow. It’s too late for me now for today - I live in the traffic capital of NJ and will not make it there in time if I were to leave now,
