  1. Was just going to post about this. I'm going to try for the Mats show also. Maybe even Passion Pit, though I'm not a big fan. Could be fun!
  2. ha! "cooled' is more like it. I'm no expert on the subject, but there was a good piece recently published about wild beers by Wired magazine. The writer actually visits Allagash: http://www.wired.com/2015/03/the-very-best-beer/
  3. I had an awesome trip up to Portland, ME last weekend for Allagash's release of Resurgam, one of their limited Coolship beers. This is the type of beer that I'd drink most often, if I could. The bottle reads: Coolship Resurgam is brewed with Pilsner malt, raw wheat and aged hops. The beer is cooled overnight using outside air temperature in a traditional large shallow pan known as a "coolship." During the cooling process, naturally occurring microflora from the air inoculates the beer, and in the morning it is transferred into French oak wine barrels where the entire fermentation and aging t
  4. I wish that I had some money to burn: http://www.alotofsorrow.com/ 9LB box set of "Sorrow" over and over again.
  5. You should teach a 101 Concert Photography class, Tim. I'd enroll. Great pics, as always.
  6. Awesome to hear! His hoppy beers really are fantastic. I went in on Saturday for a growler fill of Fort Point Pale Ale and wish I got more.
  7. WILCO ‏@Wilco · 5m5 minutes ago We consider the changes to Indiana's RFRA a good first step. Our May 7 show at The Murat is back on. Details: http://bit.ly/WilcoMURAT Quoted from Facebook: We consider the changes to Indiana’s RFRA a good first step toward creating the sort of welcoming environment we encourage everywhere, so we’re reinstating our May 7 show at The Murat, which we canceled earlier this week. To quote an Indiana University statement from yesterday, "religious liberty and equal protection under the law are both cornerstones of our democracy and they should not be in conflic
  8. Boxer was the album that got me. Specifically the song "Mistaken for Strangers," which is still a favorite. I find myself listening to High Violet and their latest, Trouble Will Find Me, the most. They are definitely one of the better rock bands I've ever seen. The Dessner brothers are a lot of fun to watch, and Matt's a total lunatic when he gets into it (or when he's into the white wine).
  9. I'm down! Boston local here, but travel around New England for beer.
  10. Good albums, but great shows.
  11. A new song, Sunshine on my Back, available on Spotify! http://pitchfork.com/news/59095-the-national-release-sunshine-on-my-back/
  12. Tiinnitus, have you made it over to Trillium yet? Their IPAs are a must. Fort Point Pale Ale puts Zombie Dust to shame, IMO.
  13. Totally understand what you're saying, Hwllo. Limited beers that do see some local distribution often end up at bottle shops where they remain behind the counter for regulars, or off the shelf and available to "those in the know" who care to ask for them. It stinks for both the customer and the shop, really. I was just in VT and went to a shop for a four pack of Heady Topper. Heady is the #1 rated beer on Beer Advocate. There is a website, Heady Spotter, dedicated to finding out when and where it's being delivered. I've waited an hour in line at a co op grocery store in Montpelier, VT on a ra
  14. I'm having so much fun reading the FB comments. "I guess Wilco forgets what took place with the Dixie Chicks. Wilco can say goodbye to their music career as they are done now." Goodbye, Wilco
  15. I never imagined I'd be one to get into beer trading... It's a slippery slope! It is the only way to get to try the best craft beer in the country. Unless you have the freedom to travel the country and wait in line for beers with a 1 or 2 bottle per person limit!
  16. A lot of beer talk on Via Chicago lately, which is pretty awesome. My two most frequented forums are VC and BeerAdvocate, so it's fun to see the cross over! For whatever reason I can't seem to utilize the quote function, but I'll have to agree with the above that Tank 7 is one of the best widely distributed saisons available! That and Ommegang's Hennepin are pretty amazing. I'm very spoiled in that I take somewhat regular trips to Vermont for Hill Farmstead. IMHO, Hill Farmstead is producing some of the best beer in the country. Vermont really is THE beer mecca. Between HF, Fiddlehead, Th

  18. The new single has blown me away. I'm so excited for this record.
  19. Totally agree re: Gabe on the drums. And it seems to be the consensus that both Chris and Noam are at the top of their field as far as mandolin and banjo playing is concerned. My girlfriend, who is the real bluegrass fan in the relationship, took me to Bela Fleck's Banjo Summit show a year or so ago. It was really obvious that even amongst a group of the best living banjo players, Noam really shines. Not much needs to be said about Chris -- the guy is unreal.
  20. Ticket prices is a good idea, though that could have the adverse effect and discourage future concert going! Glad I'm not the only with this.
  21. I'm lucky in that I was an obsessive hoarder from a young age, so I have several binders with every ticket stub from every show I've ever seen. When I was younger I'd clip newspaper reviews of shows - I've since stopped doing that. I keep an Excel document now, in hopes a thread like this pops up!
  22. Guster: 19 Wilco/ JT: 17 (assuming each SSF counts as 1) State Radio/Dispatch: 17 From there there's a big drop off; I've seen a lot of bands ~5 or so times. Was easy to see a lot of Guster/ State Radio shows in High School as I lived pretty close to Boston.
  23. I'm REALLY enjoying this show. Also just watched the season 1 finale of the HBO show Togetherness, written by and starring Mark Duplass. Enjoyed season 1 very much and would recommend it.
  24. I'm hopeful that once summer shows are announced the list will grow. For now: April 3: The Decemberists April 13: Gregory Alan Isakov April 14: Gregory Alan Isakov April 30: Joe Pug May 2: Guster May 4: (hopefully) Sufjan Stevens May 10: Julian Lage/ Chris Eldridge June 26-8: Solid Sound!
