  1. New single, American Dream Plan B is available via Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hear-tom-pettys-old-school-rocker-american-dream-plan-b-premiere-20140605 I'm on the fence...
  2. I feel the same way. Frankly, I was more excited about seeing RA at NFF than I was Tweedy. I think I'll still try for presale tickets & let fate decide.
  3. Ugh. I'm cranky that this overlaps with the first night of Newport Folk Fest.
  4. We have a membership to TP's fanclub. Tried for Fenway tickets... two tickets, with the cost of the membership, are $373.85. No thanks.
  5. Got a pair of tickets for The Watkins Family Hour show on Sunday night!
  6. That's about as fair a statement as: "wilco fans are a bunch of middle-aged dads."
  7. The hypocrisy stings a bit. The "golden circle" seats are going to be $130+. That said... I'll (hopefully) be at the Fenway show.
  8. Oh man, that was awesome. I'd watch 90 minutes of that.
  9. Maybe Matt Pond tonight, if I can stay awake for his 10:30 start...
  10. I lucked out & scored 2nd row dead center tickets on craigslist. The comedy tonight was some of the funniest i've ever seen. Daniel Kitson especially, who had me in tears. Neko sounded terrible; that mix was embarrassing, and at Berklee of all places. Figured we'd get a new song of hers, but enjoyed Pauline & one of the only Justin Townes Earle songs I know, Harlem River Blues.
  11. John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats
  12. The live stream has been a good opportunity for me to check out a bunch of Pitchfork bands that I wouldn't hear otherwise. I can't say I've discovered a single band that I like. The worst has to be Future Islands. I almost can't believe that people sincerely enjoy them. The lead singer seems like a nice guy though. Neko Case's set was okay, though it felt like she and the band were just going through the motions. Foxygen's "21st Century Ambassadors" is a bit of a guilty pleasure record for me, but man are they horrible live.
  13. Well... Ryan Adams was added to Friday. EDIT: just bought tickets. I haven't been this excited for a show in a long time. Is it too early to start a NFF thread?
  14. Oh man... It was announced that Ryan Adams will play XPoNential Music Festival on 7/26 in Philly. He could turn up at NFF on Friday or Sunday... My excitement for a RA addition will rival my excitement for the Tweedy announcement. Suppose I'd have to buy Friday tickets too...
  15. The Mountain Goats - Somerville, MA Horse Feathers - Cambridge, MA Nickel Creek - Boston, MA Matt Pond - Cambridge, MA Sharon Van Etten - Cambridge, MA and hopefully Providence, RI Neko Case - Lowell, MA Newport Folk Fest - Newport, RI
  16. 09 Jun 2014 / Baltimore, MD / Meyerhoff Symphony Hall Pre-sale: Weds., April 2 at 10am EDT On sale: Fri., April 4 at 10am EDT
  17. Has anyone seen the new documentary, Mistaken For Strangers? I watched tonight and really loved it. It's a hilarious, heartbreaking, and really endearing documentary about the Berninger brothers. I highly recommend checking it out, even if you're not into the National.
  18. i didn't sense that at all. i've given isbell a listen in the past, and didn't enjoy him much. i did, however, enjoy the interview quite a bit, especially the song he played at the end. i'm thinking i need to give him another shot.
  19. Pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this one more than Moonrise Kingdom. For those that have seen it: what did you think of WA's use of the aspect ratio? On paper it sounded gimmicky, but I thought it worked really well.
  20. I like it. It's tough keeping track of on sale dates & presales. Such a thread could be a good resource! Tonight I'm seeing Gregory Alan Isakov & Josh Ritter!
  21. I want to go to a Jeff Tweedy/ Colin Meloy show in Pawnee.
