Anybody Out There In LA Like Pink Floyd?
Cam Jones replied to Muzzle of Dan's topic in Solid State Technology
Will you build the Wall and have inflatable teachers and wear costumes and synch the music to projections?????!! -
I dont know where people get off calling EVERYONE who is participating in this protest a "deadbeat" or whatever else. I know a few people who are in the Occupy Portland (ME) protest... They are defiantly not deadbeats. They just support this cause and want to make a statement. I see this as a protest to show we're all fed up with corporate greed, tax cuts and loopholes, and the like. And how that just doesnt happen for the shrinking middle class and people below that line. A lot of people don't get that... they're just doing it just to do it. I doubt this will work though. Notice how Was

Cam Jones replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
My aunt and uncle saw this tour, I think. Jewel opened. They said they didnt like BFF... Im upset about that. -
i just found out that the first three seasons are on netflix... I finally broke down and watched the first episode last night. It was pretty good... I mean I have a feeling I'll be liking this show... but not jizzing over it like everyone else does.

or a deluxe-er version of the DVD. with even MORE footage. When you film documentaries you have easily 30 hours of footage.... I would easily but slowly chip away at watching 30 hours of black and white Wilco. -
I love all the shitty organ on this record.

my friend had a salmon pink one of these. salmon pink is such an unappealing name for a color... but its actually pretty cool. I'm sort of a classic dude... i only really have either black, natural, or sunburst guitars.

I love this song. My only problem is the vocals are hard to make out in the mix.

i was being totally sarcastic! But i strongly encourage people (who can make it) to watch the opening act to just about any show. They are up there for a reason, they're expressing themselves and deserve the full attention... unless they're unbearably bad and are dicks or whatever. But who knows, you could get turned on to some awesome music. Like when I saw Snowblink open for Jeff Tweedy and everyone talked through the whole thing. I felt bad for them. People were pretty quiet in my section in Boston but i could hear a lot of people talking in the back. I just found it very rude. But anywho

Sitting vs standing at a concert is the only time I "conform" to do as others do. If everyone starts to stand up, then I stand up (so i can see as well) If everyone sits, I will sit. I know that everyone including myself are there to enjoy the concert. I try to be as conscious as i can about how other people want to enjoy it. Because we're all supposed to be there together experiencing something, right? RIGHT? Exactly. But as far as preference at a Wilco concert goes, I would prefer to stand if I'm on the floor.

Whole Love played on NBC's Parenthood

I think Wilco (the Song) was on an episode one time (I watched it when I was bored) the writers must be fans. Also Wilco is gettin' a pretty penny for that. -
I might have been misunderstood. maybe not. But every presale I've done, I've gotten tickets just about right away. For the Boston show, I stopped for a second to look at the seating chart and still got an isle seat in the orchestra. Granted I was surrounded by people who didn't seem all that into it. Barely sang along. So what gives? I also think there should be a limit on presale tickets as well... I know there are several people on here that grab up several pairs of tickets just to get a "better seat" or something. Thats not meant to be malicious... but give everyone a chance eh?
-
I think people complaining about not getting tickets is sort of a cop out. If you REALLY WANT TICKETS. You will stay by your computer for the pre-sales and when they go on sale for the general public. I've never ever ever been shut out of a show. And i've seen some great ones. I think its great they can sell out the 2000-3000 seaters. And they shouldnt go bigger than that. Unless its a special occasion. Like opening for Neil Young. or something.

I dont think they're a jam band in the sense of the music. I'm not bored by Wilcos music but I can't really take much by Phish or the Dead before I'm bored stiff. I do think they sort of create the sense of community that is found in the jam band scene. Taping, trading, online communities, people taking in multiple shows on a single tour. etc. And thats really cool. Community, its what I'm all about, yo.

"masterpiece" and "genius" are words I dont like to throw around... I seldom use them seriously. I wouldn't consider anything Wilco does either of these things... I would just say that they are really really really really really really fucking good.

I would love that Evening With tour again too... but just think how much of a strain it was on ALL of the to play 39 songs each night. Jesus Christ.
-
Fuck these guys.

I was in the Orchestra and i thought it was just a little quieter because of the speakers facing another direction and not right at me. But at certain times it did seem really loud.

^ i dunno, i just read here a couple times that people are like "standing O? more like standing BLOW" something like that...

I see me in that picture! The tallest one standing behind the kid in the plaid shirt. That was a family sitting in front of me... The dad was being a typical dad, hooting, hollering, clapping, trying to be fun. The daughter was dragged along, i could tell. Texting CONSTANTLY and telling her dad to stop dancing. wtf girl? Let your dad do what he wants. Shut up and watch the show and get off the F-book! They changed the layout anyway and it blows!

I thought it was a great show! nothing will hold a candle to the "Evening With..." Show i saw... but I am always up for seeing these guys. The set was a little short... but everyone was happy and on top of their game. I love Jeffs stage moves and he seemed like he was in a really really good mood. My only major gripe was he didnt really talk too much... probably because of the 11 curfew, they wanted to cram as much as they could. my minor gripe is they didnt play Standing O. I know a lot of people dont like that tune... but I love it and wanna hear it live!
