Wilco played there on their "Evening with.." tour, almost exactly 2 years ago to the day - 4/9/10. Great place to see a show, and a great setlist: http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=1286 If I remember, it is a pretty big symphony-type hall, as far as symphony-type halls go.

Adding two more prepositional phrases - "with fireworks after the show" might make it even cooler.

Getting back from a Wilco show at midnight on a work night this July is a problem I would like to have.

Geneva, IL is not close to New England. I am happy for folks in the greater Geneva, IL area. Not so happy for us in New England. Hoping for good news tomorrow.

That is a little bit of heaven - a Wilco tune and a Shake Shack burger. -

What was/is your favorite decade for music?
The Inside of Outside replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Tough question. Which means it is a good one. My head tells me the 70s - Who, Stones, Zeppelin, Jam, and on and on. But my heart says the 90s - Jayhawks, early Wilco, some great Neil Young at the start of the decade, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which blew my mind in the early 90s, Golden Smog, Weller's first solo record and Wildwood, and on and on. So my favorite decade? Give me the 90s. My wife says the answer is obvious - the 80s. Opposites attract, I guess. -

Have watched every season since halfway through season 1. I don't have a favorite yet this season, but I am glad Colton is gone. Until next season, when he will be back. With Russell. On the same tribe. -
As long as we're on the subject...

No doubt there are "better" solos, but my favorite is The Replacements' Merry Go Round. I assume it is Westerberg's solo, since he did most of the guitar work on the record. Some great ones listed above - Southern Man, Shoot Out the Lights, Yer Blues, Sympathy for the Devil. With so many good ones out there, for your favorite solo you gotta go with your gut I guess. -
Wilco Avetts and Dr Dog together?

My two favorite bands playing on the same bill, a mere 7 hour and 37 minute drive away. -
Ditto. Now that I think about it, I do not do my job in front of 2,000 people. If I did, I might get a 50 dollar haircut.

I have 7 or 8 from Wilco shows, all from the techs as they are packing up. Kind folks they are to hand them out. Never have gotten one signed.

Elton John - 3/10/12, Orlando, FL (Amway Arena)
The Inside of Outside replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in After The Show
I am not a huge Elton John fan, but that is a setlist I would be happy with at his show. Looks like a pretty lengthy concert, too. Compare that to Dylan (who is older, I know), who is playing 15-18 songs a show, and the above looks pretty ambitious. -

I think you have made a good choice in starting with Anodyne - it is the most Wilco-like to my ears. The difference between Anodyne and AM is slight, if you take out Jay's vocal of course. -

Love the nine-song encore...... -
I believe that any discussion of Rush Limbaugh that evolves toward the use of the phrase, "Lighten up, Francis", is a good discussion. An excellent quote from a funny, though now seemingly forgotten, movie. But not forgotten by Crow.

Wilco songs they play that you don't want them to
The Inside of Outside replied to lamradio's topic in Just A Fan
I can relate to this. I think that was my problem with the show circa 2002 - I had seen a Being There show and a Summerteeth show, and my expectations were really high. I know that some folks share your opinion. Looking back, I was probably bummed about Wilco live without Jay - it was a pretty significant change in their live sound. It took me a show to work through it. When I saw them 8 months later in 2003, I had adjusted. And they had, too, I think - I remember thinking they sounded much tighter as a group. And it did not hurt that they were playing AGIB songs at that time, a few months be -

I've only been disappointed in one Wilco show - around 2002 or so - 4 piece band, I think, after Jay had left but before Nels, etc. joined. Lack of energy, somber first 6-8 songs, crowd was mirroring the band's energy. 14 out of 15 Wilco shows have been winners for me - I'll take that percentage anytime with a band. -
I agree - Monkees' show --- corny. Monkees' songs --- catchy. Saw Paul Westerberg do Daydream Believer a few times in the mid-90s, and it was a highlight of his shows for me.

The thought of hearing Shot in the Arm, Jesus etc., ITMWLY, Bull Black Nova, Heavy Metal Drummer, and some of the others listed above doesn't jazz me because I have heard them enough live. However, when I actually hear these songs live, I enjoy them (except maybe ITMWLY, which I have never been overly fond of). For instance, Shot in the Arm at Solid Sound last year was excellent. Overall, I'm with nalafej - haven't left a Wilco show disappointed in about a decade. -
For 15 bucks, it is definitely worth it. Not sure I'd pay 35 or 40. Saw them twice, once on the tour for the first album and once on the tour for the second one. As others have said, no banter, much shoe gazing, mixture of mellow and rocking songs. If I remember correctly, when they rocked, it was very good.
