When I first read this, I thought maybe it's because some hippies don't always pay close attention to their hygiene. Silly me. Then I smelled it, too! As my daughter said at Solid Sound, "Dad, it has smelled like skunk both nights here." Ha! I think that might be where folks are lighting up... -

Love "One Wing". "Bull Black Nova", less, but still enjoyable. The pretzels are excellent. -

Sick....opening....song. Almost spilled my mimosa that came in a pineapple. Definitely lost my paper umbrella cheering after the wig out ending. -
Should Wilco Start Playing Larger Venues?
The Inside of Outside replied to dark's topic in Just A Fan
Interesting question. I guess they should if they want to. For me, the smaller the better (bars are best, with the beer bottle sounds like IRememberDBoon said), but I don't think Wilco will plan their tours based on my preferences. I think they could play larger venues, but they don't. I would imagine that they can now sell out 5,000-10,000+ seat venues in larger markets, and could bypass the "tertiary markets" altogether. They might not choose these venues because, like many of their fans, they don't like them. -

What a treat to hear Nick Lowe (for those of us who could not see him in person on this tour). -

OK. I stand corrected. 25 Wilco songs really is better than 20. More is better! -

Agreed. Loved the Evening with.. shows, love the 2 hour shows. Just seeing them live is a treat. -
Ten years later, this still moves me:

I am hoping, too, but not holding my breath. I think it may be spring or summer (Solid Sound III?) before they get back to New England.

Sky Blue Sky - Confession of a Relatively New Fan
The Inside of Outside replied to xTonyWonder's topic in Just A Fan
I have no hatred for Sky Blue Sky. It has one of the few Wilco songs I do not like - Leave Me (Like You Found Me). It has a a song I am so-so about - Walken. I like or love the other 10 songs. 10 out of 12 is good, but for me this ranks it below several of their other albums. Still listen to it quite a bit, especially as my kids like it a lot. -
I know this sounds crazy......but I am nail-biting the UConn-Vanderbilt game right now!

This sums it up for me.

Tough to get down to just 10. Numbering them is too difficult. Country Disappeared Kamera Misunderstood Pieholden Suite Pot Kettle Black Red Eyed and Blue/I Got You The Late Greats Too Far Apart Via Chicago You Are My Face

I can't say I don't really like it; I do. I don't love it, though. I have heard it so much on the CD and in concert that I could do without it. And I hear you on the trying too hard to do something different. Wouldn't make my top 20 Wilco songs.

Just watched part of an interview with Billy Bragg on a show called "Democracy Now!" on a public access channel (I have the most basic cable package, so I linger on somewhat odd channels/shows sometimes, and this show is one of them). Billy said that there were more songs recorded back then than were put on the Mermaid Avenue albums, and that the plan is to "release a third Mermaid Avenue album next year with 16 or 17 of these tracks on it".

The whole talking at shows thing...
The Inside of Outside replied to OGB's topic in Someone Else's Song
I was right near that umbrella guy, too. He was annoying. More annoying was the person who yelled at him to "Shut the f%#$ up!" several times, as I had three young kids with me. -
The school district I work in has had 1:1 laptops for grades 7-12 for six or seven years now. It is amazing how much it changes student learning, teaching, and what goes on in school. Much of it in a good way. Good luck with the ipads!
