The impossible list! Top 30 bands/artist for you

You have a shockingly high amount of bands I've never heard of! Which, by this point, shouldn't shock me, but it still does. -

Listening to the new one, Restless Ones, right now. Sounding great. Will have to digest a little before I put up my 5 HB faves. -

Love of Music Declining With Age?
worldrecordplayer replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
I know it's obnoxious to quote myself, but just as I was wondering what I was going to listen to today and feeling the need for something new, the recent Wilco show from St. Louis becomes available for download. So I'm set for a few days. My continuing love of listening to music gets constantly re-charged not just from listening to new artists (about which there's been a lot of focus in this discussion) but new music from older artists I already follow, such as the recent Lucinda, the upcoming Jason Isbell and Richard Thompson, and discovering bands who have been around for a while who I hap -
I had no idea this same article is in the liner notes of DP 31. I've been holding onto this newspaper since 1974, its made every move with me. I never bought this DP release because they cut up the show and didn't release it in its entirety, so with such an excellent soundboard in circulation never felt the need to get it.

Love of Music Declining With Age?
worldrecordplayer replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
My age is getting up there, but not my love of music. In fact, the opposite. I find myself more and more just wanting to stay home and listen to music then go out with friends, most of whom in my current life are not music fans, a situation I have never had and frustrates me to no end. Over the last few years I've spent some money and upgraded my home system with a new turntable, cd player and now new (used) speakers. The system rocks, which is why I never want to leave my house. No Spotify, sonos, Pandora or other subscription music bullshit for me (at least not at home). As for new mus -

The earlier chatter about Roosevelt Stadium 8-6-74 caused me to dig through my GD memorabilia and pull out this long piece about the Philly and Jersey City shows from some underground newspaper (they don't have those anymore). I've saved this all these years and was able to copy to 8 1/2 x 11 and scan it to a pdf., so in case anyone has some extra time (and strong eyes), it's an interesting read, and a good artifact of the times. Only thing is I can't figure out how to attach the pdf file here, I don't think I can, but I have it if anyone wants it.

Nick Offerman Wants to Marry Jeff Tweedy
worldrecordplayer replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Just A Fan
Was the Salon piece I linked the entire Tweedy chapter, or is there more in the book? -
Loved this piece by Nick Offerman "Jeff Tweedy is really nice. Jeff Tweedy is really smart. And Jeff Tweedy is really, really cute. He’s what the young ladies of a bygone era would refer to as a “dreamboat.” For my money, he’s also the preeminent American singer-songwriter of my generation. Finally, I would add that I am in love with him. We are getting married. The end." http://www.salon.com/2015/06/07/nick_offerman_jeff_tweedy_is_the_best_songwriter_of_my_generation_and_i_want_to_marry_him/ http://www.salon.com/2015/06/07/nick_offerman_jeff_tweedy_is_the_best_songwriter_of_my_

Yes, and the Garcia birthday, 8-1-73 show. And the 8-476 show, which I also attended. To say they always played well at that old pit of a stadium is an understatement.

I can raise my hand and say "Yes." My first proper GD show, just a short time after this Chicago show, 8-6-74 at Roosevelt Stadium. Ended up being the tour closer. I say "ended up" because the show was originally scheduled for before the Philly show, but was rained out (while everyone was in the stadium and all chemically tuned up). Which was fortunate for me, because I had to miss the original date as my family was driving to Pittsburgh for my grandfather's wedding. We fucking drove right past Jersey City. Picture a sulking 16 year old in the back seat, furious that all his friends were

Cape Cod was a killer show. I remember it well, both for the music and the police encounter in the parking lot!

What Live Wilco are you listening to now?
worldrecordplayer replied to BobDylan'sBeard's topic in Just A Fan
I listened to that recently, I was in the house for that show. Currently in the midst of Winterlude night 5. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I'm holding out and hoping the will eventually sell individual shows from the 30 box, like they did with the Europe box.

I was in attendance at 3 of these shows: 10/27/79 3/27/93 10/1/94

I just listened to all 3 discs of this over the last couple of days, and watched some of the DVD again. Love this show. I do not for one second sign on to the "Jerry sucked post-'82" or whatever view, but I certainly respect everyone's right to their own opinion. My opinion is I saw a good number of fantastic shows in the '87-94 period, Jerry included.
