  1. There really didn't seem to be a sweet spot for this show, unless you're a right-up-front kind of person (I like the sound better a few rows back). In the pit, where I'd normally like to be, you couldn't see the band AT ALL. Back at the lawn, it was way more removed than I'd like, but at least you could see from there. I think the venue was great for its intimate size, but poorly designed for this kind of show.
  2. Fun show, beautiful night, great setlist. Lots of love for AGIB and BT! The raised platform "lip" that bböp mentioned caused obstructed view for anyone in the GA section up front that wasn't squeezed onto the platform. It was the first Wilco show I've been to where I actaually chose to move farther away from the band, up to the front section of the lawn where you could see everyone and hear great. The folks in charge of the beer offerings made some interesting choices-- everything but the watermelon-flavored wheat beer was gone 30 mins into the show. I'm not against craft beer per se, but
  3. Sounds so amazing. What a fantastic setlist! I'm envious... Hoping for some deep cuts in Raleigh!
  4. Thanks for posting, Lt Cdr -- I thoroughly enjoyed starting my day with that! I know absolutely nothing about guitars, but I love that acoustic that Jeff's been playing lately. Those painted tropical birds are great-- I bet there's a story behind that one!
  5. Saw "Tammy" on a plane the other day. Laugh-out-loud funny, which is a wee bit embarrassing when you're surrounded by strangers.
  6. My husband picked up their "Live from San Francisco" record a few weeks back-- that is some seriously good rock! Doubt they'll make it to our neck of the woods, though.
  7. Okay, I'll play too! Two nights of Wilco TWEEDY on Sunday The rest is icing on the cake.
  8. I splurged on the vinyl and am really glad I did. As others here have said, the pacing and order of the songs works perfectly. With four discrete sides to choose from, I can really hone in on what fits my mood. And since the material is at times heavy and melancholy, five songs is sometimes enough. Although I did listen frequently to the songs from the summer's live recordings and as they trickled out over the last few months, it's in the context of the other songs that makes each one shine.
  9. From Pigeons: "We're all dandelions..."
  10. Pat's moves add to the show, for sure. Also, he doesn't do them every time, which makes it more entertaining when he's really "on."
  11. That was very entertaining! I especially love the Muzak-y version of Low Key that's playing at the record company office. Funny and clever detail! With that hat and beard, all Jeff is missing are the curls and he'd look like a Hasidic Jew. Odd coincidence, now that he's Jewish!
  12. That was really cool to watch! Makes me appreciate vinyl even more. Totally unrelated, but I think Walter and Jesse could have set up shop in a record factory and cooked up a batch....
  13. A friend gave me a heads-up about this.... Hope it's true!
  14. I also prefer how they sound on the recordings as opposed to live. I think they are fabulous and love their harmonies with Jeff, but when it's live it's much more up front in the mix as opposed to being more nuanced and dreamy on the record. But I do really like their contributions overall.
  15. Phew, that's a relief! That would be pretty bad if I'm on this board daily and still missed it!
  16. Fantastic! That's really something to look forward to -- thanks for digging.
  17. Wait, did I miss something important? Tickets aren't on sale yet, are they?
  18. Oh man! Wish I'd been at last night's party. But knowing me, I'd have done too many virtual Jell-O shots and annoyed my husband with loud sing, clapping, whistling, etc. He doesn't need any more fodder for teasing me about my "imaginary Wilco friends." See whoever's going to Raleigh for a real live Wilco party!
  19. That was great. Those two have such an interesting vibe to watch-- Spencer seems to really care what his dad thinks about his opinions, and Jeff seems to really make an effort not to interrupt, assume anything, or speak for Spencer. Very endearing. Although I wish Jeff had answered the question Diane asked about the Solid Sound documentary! It remains a mystery....
  20. Jeff was all smiles during Low Key. I also thought it was funny that Jeff has shaved but is apparently re-growing his beard already.
  21. That song is so amazing the way they play it live. The studio version is much heavier sounding in the drums.
