  1. As of a decade ago, pretty good. Haven't seen them recently, but I'd imagine things haven't changed all that much.
  2. Sounds great. Not sure how well the ESP experiments would translate to an audio recording, tho. We'd need audio footnotes or something. (What you're hearing right now is the sound of Jerry thinking of a cheeseburger...)
  3. Solving problems is antithetical to the modern political philosophy that parties by and large define themselves by their stances on intractable issues that will likely never be "solved". Really, it is in the best interest of their political careers not to solve problems. Having issues to point to and blame on somebody else provides a reliable and predictable rate of support from certain constituencies, which is what it is really all about, isn't it?
  4. Yeah. Nothing like flaunting the fact that you are exploiting a loophole in the law in order to peddle alcohol to kids. Because that won't invite revised legislation.
  5. 3%, eh? I'll need several packets and a 5 gallons of water...
  6. I'm a web developer with highly-questionable artistic talents, but nevertheless have access to Photoshop.
  7. My petition worked!! Thank goodness she can get back to her important work of providing us shlubs with beauty and fun.
  8. If this had been a weekend show I probably would have made the trip, but as for now I'm patiently waiting for a Columbus date.

    Sell Out!

Or were they never there to begin with?
  10. It normally pains me to say such things, but congrats to the Wolverines.
  11. I love that movie. I got it in one of those 50-DVD Horror Classics sets that you can get at WalMart for like $20.
  12. Somewhat true. Booking here tends to be streaky...they'll get a few good shows and then go months of nothing but Pink Floyd tribute bands. The Newport still gets a fair amount of decent bands, being located across the street from OSU. I think they are indirectly owned by ClearChannel anymore, which is kind of disheartening. And there is another newer venue downtown roughly the same size and also owned by the same company. Aside from the arenas, those are really the only places left to see a show.
  13. Same for Cbus. As for venues, we have 2 big shiny new-ish sporting arenas (which are fine for basketball/hockey games, but lousy places for music), a couple old theaters downtown that only rarely have concerts, and maybe 2 decent mid-sized clubs. What is probably the best "indie" venue in town is closing in July. No wonder this town gets passed by on so many tours.
  14. Yeah, the shed in Columbus--which is practically in the backyard of my new house--is pretty obviously toast at the end of this year. The land it sits on is prime real estate, and the neighboring businesses have been complaining about the traffic/noise for years. (which is funny b/c the amphitheater pre-dates almost everything that has built up in that area in the last decade, so its not like they didn't know they were building businesses next door to a concert venue) I've got mixed feelings about it. Say what you will about sheds being big and impersonal and having crappy sound--all of t

  16. Not to mention the totally unfair voodoo influence of rally-caps and/or monkeys.
  17. Not nearly as exciting as the Groupie Simulator I was expecting.
  18. I have no opinion on A-Rod, but I enjoy furthering any discussion that causes discomfort among Yankee fans.
  19. Eh. Maybe if you combine all of these into different "lands" within a park a la Disney. Theming an entire park to a specific book/movie series is probably a pretty lousy idea in the long run since it becomes tough to re-invent itself when the whole Harry Potter thing loses some of its cultural-relevance, which is inevitable.
