As much as I like Lowell, I thought Papelbon deserved to be MVP.

I just wish managers and coaches could wear something other than uniforms. Is there another sport besides baseball where the manager/coaches wear game uniforms during a game?

Yeah, they never broke up but they also had not put out anything new in nine years. They play an occasional show around here and Bill Janovitz has put out some solo stuff. I think the album is great. I am a big fan but I would put it up there with their best stuff.

Going to see them tonight in Boston. Convenient how they squeezed the show in between the World Series games.

This is the key question. I don't really see Lowell as part of the mix though. I know Youk came up as a third baseman but I can't see them throwing him over there in the World Series.

It was a good game. And it's nice to see Okajima pitch well again. He was lights out.

Great great show in Boston last night. I don't have a set list but it looks similar to what they have been playing at other shows. A nice mix from every album. They just cranked out one great song after another. Bejar was in fine form. During one song I thought he was holding up a percussion/shaker thing, but I think it was actually an orange. Neko rules and Kathryn was great.

Yup. On the 30th they only played two songs but on the 31st they played Lovelight, Tell Mama, Baby What You Want Me To Do, Hard To Handle, and Midnight Hour. I remember listening to the radio broadcast of the show and you remember correctly. She sort of rambled between songs and basically said "I don't know who these guys are but they are great."

They are indeed great live but you should know that this tour is a little different. I saw a lot of Grateful Dead shows between 1980 and 1986 but one of the coolest was seeing Etta James and Tower of Power horns sit in for the encore on 12/30/82. They played Hard to Handle and Tell Mama. (They played a longer set the next night but we couldn't get tickets ...)

A guy I work with always uses "exasperate" when he means "exacerbate."

I don't mean to kick a guy when he is down - because I actually like Joe Torre - but his managing record before he got to the Yankees was not so good. Granted he managed some bad teams, but in parts of 15 seasons he had one first place finish and, if I did the math right, a .470 winning percentage.
