Maybe they are going to take out a policy on Schilling's weight to protect their investment ...

Stephen Merritt (Magnetic Fields) on NPR's "Project Song"
Oil Can Boyd replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
It is pretty cool. You can actually watch a 10 minute clip of it on the Project Song website: Project Song -
Red Sox are apparently "close" to signing Schilling to a one year contract.
-
Thanks for posting that. I was just listening to his solo album over the weekend.

I am somewhat reluctant to start another thread that even mentions Ryan Adams, but who knew that they had the same birthday?

I think emusic is great. My only complaint is that if you don't use your downloads that month, you lose them.

The only thing that would be on my list that has not been mentioned already is Buffalo Tom's Three Easy Pieces.

Devices Enforce Silence Of Cellphones
Oil Can Boyd replied to augurus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I immediately thought of David Fricke's quote about cell phones from the IATTBYH movie: "The gist of any cell phone conversation is, 'I'll be there in five mintues.' Hang up the damn phone and just be there in five minutes!" -
And how about that Tom freakin' Brady?

Metafilter had a long thread about it. Two of my favorite commments: "he's the fucking pop music critic of the New Yorker, a post we ought to pay attention to as much as the opera critic at Maxim." "As an exploration of Tuvan throat singing, the complete Rolling Stones catalog is an utter failure."

I don't think I ever really knew how spotty Schilling has been throughout his career. I also didn't know that he was a reliever for his first few seasons.

Rockies owner: We're still the better team Owner true blue for purple By Jim Armstrong The Denver Post No one was more excited about the Rockies' magical run than their owner, Charlie Monfort. In fact, maybe he got a little too excited. Monfort insisted after Game 4 of the World Series that the Rockies are a better team than the Boston Red Sox, a team that outscored them 29-10 in a four-game Series sweep. "These guys did amazing things," Monfort said. "I think this team is a better team than Boston. It would have been nice to have another two, three, four days. We'll wake up tomor

Trent Reznor on OiNk: What do you think about OiNK being shut down? Trent: I'll admit I had an account there and frequented it quite often. At the end of the day, what made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store. Pretty much anything you could ever imagine, it was there, and it was there in the format you wanted. If OiNK cost anything, I would certainly have paid, but there isn't the equivalent of that in the retail space right now. iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I

I'm going to go get this at lunch (instead of going to the Red Sox rally).
-
I agree, on all counts. I was surprised to see him come back to the AL.
-
Looking at their filmography, I am guessing it was Still Smokin.
-
One of the Cheech and Chong movies.

I assume he is referring to the fact that Dice-K had 2 RBIs in one at bat and ARod has 1 RBI over his last 44 post-season at bats.

As much as I like Lowell, I thought Papelbon deserved to be MVP.

I just wish managers and coaches could wear something other than uniforms. Is there another sport besides baseball where the manager/coaches wear game uniforms during a game?
-
Yeah, they never broke up but they also had not put out anything new in nine years. They play an occasional show around here and Bill Janovitz has put out some solo stuff. I think the album is great. I am a big fan but I would put it up there with their best stuff.
-
Going to see them tonight in Boston. Convenient how they squeezed the show in between the World Series games.
-
This is the key question. I don't really see Lowell as part of the mix though. I know Youk came up as a third baseman but I can't see them throwing him over there in the World Series.
-
It was a good game. And it's nice to see Okajima pitch well again. He was lights out.

Great great show in Boston last night. I don't have a set list but it looks similar to what they have been playing at other shows. A nice mix from every album. They just cranked out one great song after another. Bejar was in fine form. During one song I thought he was holding up a percussion/shaker thing, but I think it was actually an orange. Neko rules and Kathryn was great.
