  1. Reportedly for Justin Masterson and Nick Hagadone, a 2007 first-round pick.
  2. I liked the Cambridge Looney Tunes because Peter Prescott (from Mission of Burma/Volcano Suns) worked there.
  3. I wish. Nope, I work for The Man (in Holyoke Center). But you are right in that many of the great ones have disappeared. I spent a lot of time in places like Second Coming, Disc Diggers, Mystery Train. I'm sure there are plenty of others that I am forgetting.
  4. I can see In Your Ear from my (office) window. If you are in Harvard Square, there is also Planet Records, which is pretty good. And if you are looking for really weird stuff there is the appropriately named weirdo records in Central.
  5. Via pitchfork: Back in 1980, New Jersey postpunk originators the Feelies dropped Crazy Rhythms, their classic debut. Crazy Rhythms was a short, sharp shock of spiky guitars and sidelong grooves, the sort of album destined to become an influential but underappreciated relic, which is exactly what happened. You can hear bits and pieces of Crazy Rhythms all over American indie rock from the 1980s, especially in the first few R.E.M. albums, but the band's history was plagued by commercial failure and frequent breakups. The LP has been out of print forever. That's about to change. The Feelies a
  6. I liked it but it was sort of odd in that it was a fictionalized telling of a true story.
  7. Looking for one for Portland July 17. Email is will.donham@gmail.com Thanks!
  8. Oh I don't know about that. I mean he walked Concepcion in the 6th ...
  9. The goth version of Heavy Metal Drummer that they played ...
  10. I'm pretty sure they are going to come visit me in my vacation rental. It's about 70 minutes from Portland, right on the coast. Nice views and good lobster.
  11. Nicely put, schoenfraun. And (just a suggestion) that might be a nice way to close this thread ...
  12. Me too and me too ... (I actually bought the single but my turntable is on the fritz.) EDIT: thanks everyone!
  13. I saw the Boston show too and it was great. But I don't get Sundance so I'll wait for the DVD ...
  14. Wow - first bassist Pat Leonard died last year and now original (and amazing) drummer Pat Brady died last night. Moving Targets
  15. That is a nice write up. It was my first Wilco show and it was a great one. Up until that point, I was a fan but not a huge one. I had all of the albums but they hadn't really grabbed me yet. But in Camden, by the time they were halfway through the opening song (Airline to Heaven) I knew I had a new favorite band.
  16. He sometimes refers to himself as Billy at his shows. He often calls his Lizard Lounge/Toad band "Billy Billy Matt and Phily."
  17. It's a great blog. The first time I saw Wilco (Camden Maine July 2000) Janovitz was the opener.
  18. I watched some of this last night and it was pretty good. Neil was pretty blunt about the importance of "following his muse" even if it meant screwing over bandmates or other musicians. I also didn't realize it was James Taylor playing banjo and harmonizing on Old Man.
  19. And how about four people (two catchers and two managers) getting thrown out in the 7th inning of the (Red) Sox/Twins game? Seemed like the ump had a pretty short fuse ...
