It was Tom Petty and Minus 5 with Wilco for sure. I caught the first Petty show and then both Minus 5 shows. Great week indeed. I caught the Chicago incarnation of Pettyfest last night. It was a fun show. Thought I'd post here because of some Wilco content... John and Pat were two of many guest stars. Their first appearance was for Here Comes My Girl. Pat played guitar and John was on stage sans instrument. Pat handled the talking lyrics as well as the chorus while John hit the higher note singing (very well). Later they backed up Kelly Hogan (both on guitar) as she did Stop Dragging My Heart Around. Pettyfest tonight

It is pretty easy to avoid everything but the concert if you want and then I think the event isn't so bad. I did that the last couple years - Fun. last year and then Gomez the year before. Great fun especially if the weather is nice. Entering at Monroe and Columbus avoids all the craziness.

Interesting comparison. I know you meant it as a joke. JBJ must have figured out that touring/working under his name wasn't as as lucrative as working under "Bon Jovi" as he has kicked Richie out of BJ and with health issues, Bon Jovi has toured with just two real members at times (JBJ and the keyboard player). I think in Tweedy's case it is a great solution. It lets him evolve beyond Wilco, which over the last 10 years has turned into a band of the six current members who perform Jeff's music.

"Will be playing with a band." Interesting. My money has Spencer on drums. I wonder if he'll have the crackerjack band at any other upcoming solo dates?

I agree with the Hall that it should just be the four original. Subsequent band members didn't contribute to much material that is Hall worthy. I think the Hall has actually set a good standard that they are living by.

Pat is playing with the Zombies on the dates listed. His first gig playing with them is the 11th, so you missed the Zombies, but Pat didn't play with them in Miami.

Got my ticket to see CRB in Chicago when they hit town. Jackie Greene is also coming, but I think I'll pass on that show. Waiting for a local Rich date - I've never seen him solo/live. Wish Chicago was one of the markets getting the Jackie/Rich combo shows.

$500 or so to see Pearl Jam at Wrigley last summer. Great show, but not worth it. The tickets were sold for profit at least a couple times before getting to me at that crazy price.

Josh Freese was in GNR for a time so that isn't that far off base.

Same band, same thing happened in 1993. Izzy Stradlin came back for about 5 shows. Unlike Duff, he had left on much harsher terms though. He is Axl's buddy these days and plays with the band occasionally. Weird thing to me is that Duff is going to have to play some crappy Chinese Democracy era songs...

I'm reading "The Son" by Philipp Meyer. I have about 100 pages to go (450 done) and it is a great read.

Guess not...they cancelled. Cancelled tomorrow in Minneapolis too. They appear to be playing Letterman tomorrow - lame if that is the reason for the cancellation.
