What does your upcoming concert schedule look like?
nalafej replied to EstimtedProphet's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'm a fan of switching up the setlist, but I don't want Wilco to turn their setlists into an American Idol contest. -
I don't think so. Ian came into the fold after Izzy had stopped touring. He really only did one tour for the initial album and then a short Japan tour for Ride On.
-
So strange, but that isn't a new policy... Izzy Stradlin joined the band on stage at the gig last night. That would have been really fun to see. Izzy was always my favorite. Great songwriter. He first 4 solo cds are really good.

Trying to read that setlist - tough. Maybe: ? War on War I Might Country Disappeared California Stars Whole Love Born Alone Heavy Metal Drummer Dawned on Me

sooutoftune.org (love this site) has the March 31, 2012 Vic show where it was played. It is mis-labeled though. I Might is actually BBN.

I went to the show in Chicago two nights ago. Same deal, landed 5th row tickets three hours before the show. Flea side. The new guitar player is not good and he was really low in the mix. It was a fun show, but not the best show ever.

I agree. the PJ20 concerts in Alpine were a nice exception that I attended. Really fun.

Big mixed feelings on how prominent Budweiser's sponsorship is.

Wilco by the Numbers: May 2012 Southeast Tour

Great stuff. I love the note about Sunloathe. Hope we see that one played this summer... -
They did most of Toys for the first 7 shows of the 2009 tour (w/ ZZ Top). After that 7th show, they cancelled the next 7 shows. When they started back up they had ditched Toys and only made it another 8 shows before Tyler fell off the stage at Sturgis. Rest of the tour was cancelled and that is when Joe and Steven started publicly feuding. Disappointing time in the band's history for sure.

Steven sounds like the weakest link on their new track which they premiered on American Idol last night and can be heard at aeroforceone.com As an old Aerosmith fan, I hope this is similar to Van Halen's latest release where the lead off track isn't indicative of the rest of the album.

M Ward w/ Lee Ranaldo Band opening @ Vic. First time seeing either one. I have an extra if anybody is interested...

www.vhnd.com has a video w/ DLR on the situation.

Postponed is better than cancelled. I bet they play the gigs eventually.

9. Enjoy the show!

Wilco — 5/15/12, Miami Beach, FL (Fillmore Miami Beach)
nalafej replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
The 2009 show also took place at a time of year when more tourists would be in FL - spring break etc. I was one of them and took in that show. I just compared the setlists from last night and 2009 and Wilco did a great job mixing it up. Very few repeats. -
Funny that Grand Sierra Theater calls out "Box Full of Letters" and (although not surprising given the venue) "Casino Queen" as their hits - both from 17 years ago and not as recognizable as other Wilco songs. "Indie veterans Wilco are returning to Reno for the first time since 2009! Almost a year after releasing their 8th studio album “The Whole Love,” this Chicago-born band will play hits like “Box Full of Letters” and “Casino Queen” inside the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort. Tickets are just $39.50 and opening bands will be announced at a later date. "

The 3 songs from one album stretches continue - opening with three whole love right into three Ghost and ending with three being there. Nice. -
Shaping up... Greek Berkeley Sept 21 Greek Berkeley Sept 22 Grand Sierra Theater Reno Sept 23 Hollywood Bowl LA Sept 30 Reno's venue looks very formal. Anyone every been?

Really enjoyed Wilco's set at Sloss. Unique experience there. Great sight lines, people watching and sounds! Loved hearing Monday. The count in on that is just so enjoyable!

Figures the first time I ever have a front row seat for a Wilco show, it is 20+ feet from the lip of the stage. 48th time seeing the band. At the bottom of the list as far as venues I've seen them. Wilco played really well. I was worried about the energy after seeing a big change in the energy of opening band, Purling Hiss from the prior night. Wilco are pro's and did just fine, even in the strange venue in the middle of downtown Jackson where nothing is going on. I mean nothing besides a huge wedding and the Wilco show. Probably due to the fact that it was a weekend I guess?? It was a 3pk n

I'm going to have to call understatement on " I play several different guitars during a concert" !! -
