Wilco — 2/3/12, Eugene, OR (Hult Center for the Performing Arts)

Ouch. I enjoyed the show just fine without alcohol. No difficulty. Sometimes it is nice to have a beer while listening to rock n' roll - I didn't like being restriced from doing so. I agree it can be a chattier crowd with alcohol, but think it can be fun watching Wilco play off such a crowd. I'm going to ignore what I'm interpretting as an insinuation that I am an alcoholic (other than this sentance - ha). Regarding the people sitting in the center section of the orchestra section, we saw different things. I saw a woman with blonde hair in the front row pretty much in front of John standin -

I thought it was a great show. The Hult Center was very convenient and the sound is wonderful. One downside to these kind of places is that there were no drinks allowed in the actual theater. I found it funny that the people on the floor stood throughout with the exception of the first 10 rows in the center section. The 1%. I was worried that Sunday Morning was going to put people back in their seats, but better results ensued. Everybody seemed to be in a great mood across town all day - great weather may have been inspiring. The production is just so neat, especially on the new songs. I've se -
Scott was in attendance but no performance last night. California stars would have been a nice tough IMO.

Hi - I ended up finding another ticket so I'm offering this one up. Orchestra. Row II. Ticket cost me $45. Looking for best offer and can deliver this hard ticket the day of the show.

Not a good song. I liked the two 1996 Roth songs on their Best of Volume I too. Man, that was a long time ago now too.

Have you seen ticket prices? $160/ $90 / $65 here in Chicago. $160 to see VH? Huh?

At the recent Lincoln Hall gig, Fred told a story about working at Lounge Axe - I believe he mentioned that is where he got to know them both.

I went a few years ago. Lots of fun. Great, fun show. Haven't been to the new Legends - hope there is still a way for him to play outside. -
This is very strange. The rewards don't seem worth the donation at all. I've contributed to a few kickstarters trying to fund albums - usually you pay $10 - 20 and get a cd out of the deal. $40 for a cd is a bit much, right?

My favorites: Wilco @ Metro (saw all Shrinking Chicago shows and thought this was the best) Pearl Jam Destination Weekend Sunday show - like the last day of summer camp The Head and The Heart @ Metro - great to see a breaking band find their audience Bob Seger @ Rosemont Horizon - grandpa doing his 70's fm radio thing with no shame U2 @ Solider field - opening with 4 Achtung tracks sold me. Honorable mention: Wilco @ Opera house. Worst: Yo La Tengo @ Metro - Seinfeld show disaster.

Glenn is indispensable to Wilco. Best drummer I have ever seen live. He is just so fun to watch and so good at what he does.

Show #4. Wilco at the Metro. Every song was the first time played at the Metro! No repeats. Couldn't have been happier to hear I Got You. I Got You was my favorite song for so long then it fell out of favor. Back at the top. So much energy. Best of the 4 shows! Great setlist! The band looked like they were having fun for the first time on this run. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

You are right. I added some more. This is tough. I don't know how Jeff does it.

Night #3. Another impressive setlist. Looks like they slipped up and played a non TWL song twice. I wonder if they realized they were doing that? I love the daringness of these setlists. What is probably most impressive is how well they are pulling it off. The band knows these songs really well. The Vic remains my favorite venue in Chicago. It is so far superior to the Riv and hosts great bands. Wilco has great history there and I’m glad they played Kicking TV last night. Being at those four shows in 2005 was a treat and the reminder last night was fun. I thought the crowd was good. A lot of

From an email they just sent: What a Week for Wilco! From downtown Chicago’s Civic Opera House to the more intimate settings of the Vic, Metro, and Lincoln Hall on the near northside, Wilco is making their musical presence felt in five of the city’s most popular venues this week. Of course, each of these XRT Shows sold out almost immediately. Our initial impression after the first two performances is that the band is as excited about this live homecoming as are we, their biggest fans. See Wilco video here. Tune in Friday for our day-long Wilco feature, including excerpts from Jeff Tweedy’

Hi - I'm looking for an extra for the Metro for a friend. I know it is a long shot, but figured I would post anyway. Get in touch with me if you can help. Thanks VC!

plastic bags, but not tubes.

Just want to say - The entry process at the Riv last night was SO EASY. This ticketing policy needs to go in effect everywhere.

Night 2. Impressed with Wilco changing the set up so dramatically from the prior night and playing songs they haven’t done in a while. It was a fan’s setlist. Not uber bside, but deep cuts. Bravo to Wilco for that. It was casual up on stage with the restarts and it looked like they weren’t really letting loose on some of the songs – pure speculation, but I would guess since they weren’t second nature they needed to focus more on the music than the performance (Seeds, Kamera, High). Highlights: Can’t Stand It, I Got You, Reservations Loved the I’m a Wheel set addition. Loved Just a Kid. Fel
