  1. It did sound great. One of many highlights. The Good Part. More Like the Moon. Radio King. Too Far Apart. Seemed like Jeff didn't write the lyrics to half the songs tonight given all the Mermaid love + the BS, Dylan, Young, Elvis (?) covers and Monkey Mess.
  2. While Jeff did say "Company in My Back (first time acoustic)" he isn't actually right. He's done it before. I've seen him do it at Marytrs and I haven't checked wilcobase to see if it was done any other time. Lots of crazy songs tonight. Long show. Great, funny stories. Surprised by the lack of songs from BT, YHF and W(TA)
  3. Still plenty of unheard songs that could be catchy. I like Good Enough, but hope there are some classic catchy Petty tracks on this one too.
  4. I swore off seeing Petty after attending one show at the Chicago's Vic Theater in April of 2003. There is no way he could top that. I have been to 3 shows since - long story - but he still puts on a good show. The post super bowl tour was pretty great. Steve Winwood joined him on stage and it was fun. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the openers jump on stage with Tom during the tour. The Heartbreakers are a very impressive band - Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench are so good. Benmont plays on everybody's records.
  5. I commented on those on first viewing as well. Distracting.
  6. Note to self don't trust smc2411's opinion again.
  7. The shows they did in Japan last month looked fantastic on paper. I'm not sure what version of the band they are on (4? - AFD, UYI, 2002 and now 2010), but this would be my least favorite of the four....thought they had an interesting thing going with Buckethead, Brain and Robin Finck but now those guys are gone too. Good luck in Canada Axl - I'm sure you'll sell a lot of albums there - I hear their best buys are superior to the US.
  8. Soundgarden was never big on touring. I'm guessing they are doing at least 3 of the big US festivals this year. Maybe some Europe ones as well? What do you all think?
  9. Not impressed by Up in Air last night. Acting was fine (Although Clooney is just Clooney) but the story is boring and predictable. Worst opening titles sequence I've seen in a long time too. Oh well - I was looking forward to that one...
  10. Good song indeed. Best of the covers so far?
  11. Watched Away We Go through Netflix last night and loved it. Watched Brothers at the theater last weekend and it was excellent. Best movie I've seen this year.
  12. The movie is indeed great. The song sounds like U2 in their current phase - the movie also prominently features Bad which is far superior to Winter...
  13. I'm reading That Old Cape Magic by Richard Russo and not finding it to be his best work, but it is a pleasant read. Next up is the newest Nick Hornby...
  14. Really like the newest. Great Tweedy guitar.
  15. Seems like they may spend the week between 1/29 and their 2/7 date in the Pac NW on the West Coast? They wouldn't fly home and then back, would they? Studio time? Additional dates? Wonder what Neil Song (s) they'll play. Sounds cool.

    UIC Chicago

Fans who know the material. Maybe a slightly more excited band than in Ann Arbor for the hometown.
  17. Two hard tickets for tonight's show. Section 113 Row S. Can meet any time today - live in Wicker Park or can meet at the venue. Send me a PM
  18. Remember how everybody was wondering who this Nels Cline guy was that was too good for Wilco? He made some comments on his web site a couple weeks before the gig apologizing to his fans for compromising and joining Wilco. I forgave him about a song into it. Didn't think much of that Pittsburgh show. I was there too.
  19. May 19th, 2004. It was also Pat's first show, first show without Leroy. Pretty big show in Wilco history. I was there the next night and the energy on Spiders was awesome - first time playing the updated version with the new band. Unreal.
  20. Great great great. I've gone on a 5 hour drive and put Tom petty on shuffle. Didn't dissapoint. Very few clunkers.
  21. the dueling goes back to when they joined the band. jeff used to be in on it too, but now he just hangs back and plays the riff that wraps it up.
  22. Hi - I'm looking for one, but will buy a pair if you don't want to split them up. PM me if you can help.
