  1. I wouldn't call Burn After Reading or any of the Oceans movies crappy (in fact, I think 13 is quite good). I've never seen The Peacemaker, so I'm not sure if it qualifies as crappy or just mediocre. That's still a pretty good track record. Also, lest you forget, the topic was limited to movies, so I didn't consider his television work.
  2. George Clooney I can really only think of 3 movies of his that could count as crappy: Batman & Robin, Leatherheads, Men Who Stare at Goats
  3. It's a shame that we now have to laud something for being snark-free.
  4. So now Obama wants to ruin Thanksgiving? Thanks a lot, Obama.
  5. George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence. Both are uber-talented and make smart career choices. He is probably the biggest star in the world and she has shot to superstardom, yet both are still down-to-earth and have a wonderful perspective as to what it means to be hugely famous. (Clooney's interview in Esquire was excellent, by the way.) It's nice to see that in Hollywood.
  6. I am thankful for my daughter. Her approach to life is filled with boundless energy, constant enthusiasm, and compassion for all those around her. She's intelligent and is just starting to develop a thirst for knowledge that I try hard to encourage. Seeing things through her eyes as she experiences them is something I'll always relish.
  7. Here's a good column on what the number of cloture votes really means: What Senate cloture votes tell us about obstructionEssentially, it's an imperfect tool that is hard to perfectly determine whether the number of cloture votes is the result of a obstructionist minority or an impatient majority. Either way it definitely demonstrates the exceedingly fractious Senate and the degradation of political compromise.
  8. I think some people are confused as to what cloture is.
  9. That first Christmas without my mom was both emotionally tough for my family and one of the most memorable Christmases we ever experienced for all the reasons you just stated.
  10. No need to apologize for me. If you go into something negatively, you're not likely to find anything positive about it.
  11. I love everything about Christmas and the holidays. The decorations, the family time, the weather, the music, the gifts, Christmas cookies, watching my daughter soak it all in, and the general joy and happiness. Maybe you're doing it wrong.
  12. I guess if you think that whatever you post in this thread is that important, a one-word response can be kind of annoying.
  13. That is a good question. Although, I guess it's Hixter's fault since he politely disagrees with the way most people on here think regarding politics.
  14. I think the big questions we're really missing here are: How did this dude land a new girlfriend so quickly? and Has this new girlfriend not been paying attention to any news lately?
  15. Does a mid-life health crisis count? After being hospitalized with pulmonary emboli, I spent two years being obsessively anxious about my health, complete with panic attacks and multiple doctor trips. I also have a job that pays fairly well with good hours that I don't really like all that much, but find myself in a similar position as Winston in the post above. I try to focus on other interests and work hard to be the best father, husband, friend I can be.
  16. Then it would be missing the proper punctuation to end the sentence.
