LouieB surpasses Tweedy's Gurl - for old timers only.

I remember when the Now Playing thread was weekly rather than monthly. It's almost sad to think that this has been one of the most interesting threads around here over the last several months...talking about the good ol' days. I certainly miss the threads where you would be at least 30 posts behind if you didn't check it in a few hours. Even though my interest in Wilco has waned, I still enjoy the discussions of the band, new music, and the many different non-music topics that show up. Plus, I can check and post at work, which is more than most people, I guess. I've never really been sur -
When I need a nap, I'll usually put in a Son Volt album from the last 10 years.

Yeah, I was trying too.

Who would have thought that a live feed of a state senate floor debate on parliamentary procedure would be so riveting?

It looks like Windsor is wrong and Perry is right. However, the results of both are excellent.

I haven't read the ruling yet, but I can see Ginsburg's point about Congress recently approving the formula seven years ago. I'll be interested to see why Roberts find the methodology unconstitutional. At the same time, if the Court finds something in a law needs to be fixed, it can't throw up its hands and say, "Never mind, Congress won't be able to get this done, so we'll make the rule." The decision in Adoptive Parents v. Baby Girl (The Baby Victoria case) upsets me more than the VRA decision.

Why is everyone calling remphish "TP"?

I read the thread and it didn't even seem that bad. Oh well. Come back soon.

Right now my three favorite beers are: Revolver's Blood & Honey (wheat ale flavored with blood orange zest and local honey) Real Ale's Hans Pils Lakewood's The Temptress (imperial milk stout) If any of y'all are in Texas, you need to seek these out.

Hixter mentioned visiting a small brewery on a trip to bring back bottles to Texas in another thread. I know there is a Now Drinking thread, but I thought this topic deserved its own thread. Texas just passed a series of laws to allow small breweries and brewpubs to sell their own beer to consumers on site (yes, baby steps). We're going through a bit of a craft beer revolution and it's exciting to see all the different breweries pop up. There are a couple around Fort Worth that recently opened that are excellent: Martin House and Revolver in nearby Granbury. Any favorites in your corners of

The band seemed neutered. There was no edge. Even Low's past slow stuff has some suspense to go along with evocative imagery in the lyrics. That's all missing here for me. It's a boring album that goes limply from song to song.

Ultimately, I ended up very disappointed in this. My least favorite Low record.

New albums from Califone and Neko Case on the same day! Here's the title track from Califone's new one: Stitches

This is both weird and sad: Journalism and Democracy in Wisconsin

So awesome. New Neko is always cause for celebration.

I haven't been a big fan of his solo stuff, but so far this album is sounding great.

Alaskan cruises are great. I've been on two, one Norwegian and one Disney, which was perfect for our daughter. Whale watching is a must.

Are you just making stuff up? The GOP had in infrastructure bill at the same time that also failed. There was a big disagreement between McConnell and Reid over the two bills. Here's an article written at the time about it:

I'm not sure if I dislike this album or it just isn't what I wanted this album to be. -
That's fine. I can respect that. But for others, there are other issues that come into play. And while they may feel strongly about that issue, they may feel more strongly about other issues.

Case in point: What could the federal government or courts do about this? Texas Judge Blocks Woman from Living with Lesbian Partner at Ex-Husband's Request

That's a part of it, sure. But it's a smaller part of an overall platform. And it's a crapshoot whether the justices will be any good. I think most presidents average 2-3 Supreme Court appointments during their presidency. Reagan's three appointments produced three great justices (Kennedy has improved a lot). George H.W. Bush went 0-for-2 (Souter and Thomas). Clinton didn't fare too well either (Ginsburg and Breyer). Beyond that, the courts will only tackle those statutes passed by state legislatures that might infringe on constitutional rights. Not only is it a slow process to handle

I think most Wilco fans are probably surprised that a band can continue to make great albums after 12 years.
