I am in FL too, where Wilco should play another show soon. Come back in the nice weather, like November or December. (P.S. Tweedy solo would be fine, too.)

I think the Senator's response is actually a pretty good one. Unfortunately, there is not overwhelming support in Congress for the Democrats' strategy. As mountainbed said, cutting off funds would be political suicide. It makes them look ineffectual, but at least in 2008 they can say, "We tried to stop funding this war," and the Republicans won't be able to effectively say, "You Defeatocrats refused to give our troops the funding they needed." It's sad, but DC is one cynical fucking town.

What Should I Read on My 22 Hour Flight?
Mr. Heartbreak replied to dannygutters's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I'd say take anything that won't make you cry. By the end of my last 22-hour flight, I was getting all teary-eyed by the finale of Independence Day. -
Nice post. I would hope Jeff would take fans' criticism, praise, advice, music recommendations and stock tips with a healthy grain of salt.

New Job.....which has saved my life...
Mr. Heartbreak replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Congrats, Lou. You were overdue for this! I can see it now: "This is LouieB, reporting from the field. Over and out." -
He reportedly made the band learn it immediately. Noel and Mitch must have been rolling their eyes, like "This guy is nuts!"

Wilco Mention in Article About Helvetica Font
Mr. Heartbreak replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in Just A Fan
They steal it, and then they make an "installation" out of it ... and call it Performance Art. -
Not a place I was expecting to see our boys name-checked ... Helvetica Article

I like this part in the preview/article: As anyone who's ever lived even close to NYC can tell you, New Yorkers have been complaining about how bad things have gotten in NYC for hundreds of years.

But that was only because she did anal. If it was just straight sex, I think they would have been fine with it.
-
I knew somebody would pick up on that one.

I've just been to a few shows, dude. I'm not at the level known as "sickie" Deadhead.
-
I never heard of that phenomenon referred to as Shakedown St., though I've seen it at plenty of shows. Pretty funny.
-
"Do you come here often? And if so, why?"
-
Even I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about.

One thing's for sure: if everybody welcomed every newcomer to the board, it would be a boring read. "Hey, Skippy! Welcome to VC! LOL" "Glad to have ya, pardner." "You'll love it ... it's a way of life!"
-
Harsh my mellow, dude. Can't I just ignore them without being in the "a*hole" camp? I really don't have time to start my own board.
-
I don't have any kids, but just exactly what the heck is wrong with being a mom or dad, anyway?
-
This will make Via Chicago a much more interesting place, as newbies flood the boards with such scintillating topics as "Has Anybody Here Ever Seen Wilco Live?" and "What Other Wilco Albums Are Good?"
-
Very nice. Bonus points for using the word whilst 5 times in one paragraph. You Brits really know how to crack me up!
-
Yeah, and now we have to wait two weeks for the next episode. Aarrrgh!

That's my experience, too. I was one of the seemingly few people glad to see Jay gone, and I enjoyed what Jeff managed to do when he was switching between lead and rhythm. Guess it wasn't much fun for him, since he now has TWO other people playing guitar! But yeah, those shows I caught in 2002 were the best I've seen of them.

YEAH!
