  1. I'm pretty sure that it was $15 for the single cd and $25 for the vinyl. There were no deluxe editions on the table last night and when I asked the guy he told me "look, this is a week before street date...."
  2. It's more of a Union thing than anything else really.
  3. Very sad news. It's tough to think that the possible last time I saw them was 3 years ago with an amazing setlist and fantastic openers (The National/Modest Mouse). It's a bit odd, even to me, that I saw R.E.M. live a full 2 years before I saw U2 (in 1995 at the then brand new Fleet Center in Boston now the Boston Garden). I always admired R.E.M.'s live shows that were a hell of a lot more spontaneous than U2's (not to compare them anymore). In the 7 shows that I saw I was pleasantly surprised at what nuggets they pulled out. This is so strange after seeing what what is definitely the best Ame
  4. Let's get out the bizarre things first: OK. 3 employees/volunteers at the Wang Theatre have no fucking clue what "curfew" means. I politely asked 3 employees and no one knew what I was talking about. They looked at me as if I had just hijacked a bus full of penguins on acid. Ditto on the "Secret Service" ushers. You could tell that they were walking around with hardons eating up their power. Constantly going back and forth. Glancing over everyone. Using their hip walkie talkies. This is a rock concert. The President is not giving a speech. Ease up. Or next time I'll bring Chuck Norris with m
  5. Clearly, she thought that Jeff Tweedy was like Sting with his tantric ways.
  6. I would do this at 12:15, but I think strolling in at 7 is much better due to 3 different people's schedules. Plus, getting one person to come over from work in Kendall Square (then leaving us) and then hanging out till 8 is not my idea of fun, especially in the rain. I love Boston, but I'd rather rest up my energy and take my chances later on. Any parking or T tips? I know where I'm parking, but if it 's full I guess I'll have to improvise. I'm avoiding the T due to the Red Sox game at 7 which should be out around the time Wilco finishes.
  7. Actually, this is more like it. Dawned On Me is awesome! (had to throw this in here so people think I don't like the track because it reminds me of 80s Madonna)
  8. On the iTunes main menu under Quick Links look for Free Music. It should be the 4th thing listed. Grouplove should be the 1st.
  9. I posted this in the thread about streaming The Whole Love the other day. I'm glad that this reminded me to download it. I forgot about this after posting it. Sparky, you do know that a rip is floating around the place? Check your PM.
  10. Probably my 2nd favorite song on this. Amazed that I saw the live debut of this at Night 1 of Solid Sound. Edit: I always crank it up in the "I'm simple as a matter fact" part. Anyways, I have a question about the lyrics. Is it: "I won't ever forget her" "I won't ever forget how" "I won't ever forget...ha" I swear that in the live version Jeff sings "I won't ever fuck it up!" Either way all 3 (or 4) variations work well within the context of the song. Lastly, I hear "co-captain" not "cold captain" "tied to the mast". And every time I hear "past" I always expect Jeff to come back with
  11. Minor Spoilers: (where is the damn spoiler button?) One of my best friends who works at a local movie theater got me into a special advanced screening put on by LiveStrong. I highly recommend the film without giving too much away. Great performances all around. The tone of the film was done very well. There were lines that had huge laughs from the crowd while some people sighed or didn't say anything. It kind of depends on how you relate to cancer and whether you can laugh at it/with it to cope or feel sad emotions. The interactions between characters once the news hit was very believable and
  12. Don't want to start a new thread, but iTunes is offering Born Alone as their free single today.
  13. Yes! I do have it on an old KTS (Italian bootleg company) single cd called Outside Broadcast. It was pretty much a companion piece to the FOX/MTV ZooTV special around the same time. I think there's about 12 songs with like you said interviews and bits. It was funny though and kind of weird. I could probably upload that and put it on sendspace or something like that for you. I know that it isn't on my iPod yet. Edit: OK. Maybe it wasn't a KTS release. I think they did the Zooropa Dublin & Zoomerang Sydney shows in 93.
  14. I think that they will cover almost every song in the film. I think that they used One to appeal to a potentially broader audience. I do know that U2 performed most of Achtung Baby in a Vancouver theater over the summer that was filmed by Guggenheim, so each song should have some story behind it. To me the film looks ok. And then Bono talking about being crap until this came out seems like typical Bono creating and taking back statements to sound more interesting at the time. He doesn't appreciate anything prior to 1991? I highly doubt that. I do look forward to some unreleased live foot
  15. According to people who experienced the same thing at last December's Tweedy solo show at the Beacon Theater in NYC it wasn't that bad. I imagine every working ticket window will be open and each person should spend at least a minute to retrieve their tickets.
  16. Don't you know that this is why God invented bbop? He shall descend each night from heaven with the nights' setlist and let it be shared.
  17. That's what I thought you meant, but I swear that I saw someone on here yesterday who got a ticket off of the Wang website. So I assumed that it wasn't technically sold out, thus the confusion.
  18. Mr. Toad: I was drivin' all by myself! I hit some drunks and they ricocheted breaking my windows. I was drivin' all by myself! The band marched on and I survived I should be satisfied it's good enough for now.
  19. Michael Knight: I've said what I meant to put it mildly, I hate you 100 per cent, I mean that kindly, oh, you're not for me, not for me K.I.T.T.: Honey, let’s not get carried away
  20. Yes, but I don't think this was the issue a few pages back. No one was pulling this. The way I took it was what I described: more in line with supporting your band (financially) not opinion based. Or rather your opinion means less because you don't own it. I don't think people were implying that at all.
  21. Going back to what Nap said (defending with proof of purchase) I wanted to add in that widespread notion of entitlement. I know that there's some people out there who justify "obtaining" a leak or an uploaded direct copy of the album and not buying it because they paid to see Wilco. My friend pulled this on me. I gave him the leak because I wanted to help him know the new stuff before we saw them. He thanked me and said that he hopes that the bonus tracks show up on "his site" that he frequents to download from. I had to remind him that this leak wasn't the best sound, but good enough to get
  22. I'll be there with 2 friends. Although, to be honest I'm a bit confused by the topic.
  23. Yeah. Crow is right. Ryan wasn't a tool. He was just scatterbrained. Some more tidbits of info popped into my head when I read these responses. Although, by sharing this first bit it may add some fuel to Vacant Horizon's ideas about the man. Anyways, I keep forgetting that Ryan used my friend's cd to roll a joint on. LOL. My friend didn't really mind. I guess he thought that in this surreal fantasy come to life it was kind of cool. I mean, it was still in his hands after he finished signing autographs in the venue for about half an hour. The last thing seemed to be the most telling, but
