  1. Does anyone know if a recording of this show exists?
  2. Here's how those pumpkins from my first post turned out. Here's the big guy, about 16" tall, ready to rampage. But first, a snack! The little guy reminds me of Mr. Bill...."Oh nooooo!" My daughter took this creepily-angled shot. Ok, bring on the candy-grubbers!
  3. Yeah, that one was fun...arm in a cast, weird rash (green) all over the face, etc. etc. We'd tell people stuff like, "Yeah, we had to set that arm ourselves. Hope the elbow still bends." or, regarding the rash, "Just needs a little $5 tube of ointment to clear it up...but without insurance, that tube costs $300, so we're just getting by without it...." It was an election year. I loved this! The story comes together so much differently than you expect! I know, right?!
  4. Yep, I know, not the catchiest of thread titles, but it gets the job done. So this year, we have Halloween on the best of days, a Friday, which ought to make for lots of late trick-or-treating, pranks, and parties. The weather has been mild so far, at least in my region (Southern CA)...even a bit hot! But the weather usually turns colder right around Halloween, making all those skimpy, thin costumes seem even thinner. What have you got brewing for the night? Any great, inventive costumes? I remember fondly the year my middle son went as a movie theatre floor...popcorn everywhere, including
  5. If I ever see an amputee being hung, I'll probably just start yelling out random letters.
  6. Rest in peace, Jack. You made some of my earliest musical memories.
  7. “The only escape from the miseries of life are music and cats...” -Albert Schweitzer Jeff nailed it on both counts.
  8. Thanks, Susan! She made it easy, she was having so much fun up there!
  9. Also some Mavis shots from the weekend. She dazzled! We'll take you there! This photo strikes me as, "If Mavis ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy!" haha What a joyous set this was! Everybody left just glowing.
  10. A few photos from last weekend: Spencer on drums Jeff grinning into the sun Scott "Tweedy" McCaughey helping out on keyboards
  11. That was a great, insightful review! Thanks for sharing it.
  12. Best of luck, lamradio!
  13. I hope you were able to smooth it out afterwards, Lotti. The effect from the schnapps can be powerful. Today I'm finding myself entranced by "Desert Bell" As fast as our blood can crackle with blame The arrows of eyes Defined our embrace too soon and And buried myself so deep and so true No one ever saw through Thoroughly cruel and alone And I am so sorry you don't recognize me and Oh look past your anger and render me down In a hole in the ground Mixed with the earth Remember these words And let me no longer be worth your sorrow Oh hell I could quote that entire song!
  14. Another little lyrical thing I noticed & love is that Summer Noon is followed by Honey Combed, the first verse of which concludes, "My thoughts are grim, polluted as I am Walking out one summer noon" Intentional, or just a sweet bit of serendipitous sequencing? Either way, I enjoy it.
  15. Fascinating singer and songwriter! I'll have to look into her album. I do hope the other songs she recorded eventually get released, as her husband hopes. i love Jeff's cover of "Love Like a Wire".
  16. It's been a week today since the album's release, and more and more I'm finding myself mesmerized by the lyrics. What particular lines are popping out at you, and humming themselves in your head all day? I have many, many favorites, of which these are just a few. Where My Love: I had a dream we were cast away They came to save us but you wanted to stay Nobody Dies Anymore: Sitting in a combed out room Watching the world to end and Nobody dies anymore No badge knock on a dark front door Wait for Love: Honey I'm worried the fire is cold Our tired souls have lost their way. St
  17. That's the way to look at it! "Where there's a Wilco, there's a way." Healthy vibes to your wife. Healthy vibes to your son, too, uncool2pillow. That must be hard.
  18. Did you catch Sammy in there? Love the exercise studio bit!
  19. Thank God they're both ok! Best wishes for all of you. I hope your wife's medical news is manageable. You must be so worried.Let us know how it goes.
  20. ^ I love this post. Nobody Dies amazes me every time. Love the Kinks comparison. Good luck on Acuff-Rose tomorrow!
