I hope all the Dads, Pops, Papas or whatever name you are loved by are having a magnificent day with your children! My own sweet Dad is very much on my mind and in my heart today. THANK YOU for all the love you give, and all the little (and sometimes unseen) things you do to care for your loved ones. Today we celebrate YOU!

Patrick Park. And he was brilliant. What a wonderful show!

Hi Kalle! I'm loving this one right now.
-
Listening party! Love it.

I thought the same thing, Diane...how sweet that the album is named for Sue. Great song, huh? By now you've heard it I'm sure.

That's pretty funny & also pretty great!

That's on my to-read list. I've heard such great things about it!

I have just begun watching this, and can't thank you enough for turning me on to it. Such a wonderful show! In a single episode I'm going from tears to belly laughs and back again. Addictive. I'm currently reading Collum McCann's "Let the Great World Spin" which opens with this even, as seen by the ordinary New Yorkers who looked up that day, not knowing whether they were looking at a would-be suicide up there on the ledge...I had forgotten all about this fabulous act of derring-do! The book mentions him bending over, just before stepping out, and then a dark object falling and twisting i

Saw Hugh Laurie & his band tonight at Riverside's beautifully restored Fox Theatre (Where "Gone With the Wind" was first shown!). Omigawd, I am so utterly smitten. What an adorable, engaging, consummate performer is Laurie, and what a crack band he has assembled in The Copper Bottom Band! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much, and my head is full of songs. Ran the gamut from raucous to poignant, with never a dull moment in an almost 3 hour show! A highlight for me was the positively brilliant "St. James Infirmary". The evening closed with the Alan Price tune "Changes" and it was flat-out lov

Your school assemblies must've been loooooong! But hip. -

Now these songs are all stuck in your heads, aren't they? I'm sorry. I'm especially sorry to NoJ. My daughter's school mascot is also the husky. But they aren't allowed to use your colorful adjective. -
I suppose it's because my daughter is graduating in a couple of weeks, but for whatever reason I woke up a few mornings ago with my Alma mater humming in my head. I can't remember all of it though, just the part that goes: "Our hearts delight to be with you praise and honor to your name throughout this mighty country we'll hide in shame..." Of course that's not how the words actually go....the last line there should be "we'll spread your fame", but nobody I knew actually sang it that way. Even teachers were known to slip into the "mistaken" lyrics. At assemblies with everyone singing, it w

Very nice! I'll bet it's beautiful there.

Night is pretty powerful stuff. My daughter read that too. The Lampshade was very, very good, and very well told. You'll like it, despite the horrifying subject matter.

I love that picture! Two of my favorite people. Wishing a phenomenal turnout to this Light The Night walk, and fundraising results as generous as Sue & Jeff have always been themselves! Love you, Sue!

No crime spree that I'm aware of. The officer we spoke with said it was possible the car had been ditched in the alley with the thieves intending to return for it later. My favorite thing: the first thing the officer had us do was look the car over to confirm that everything in the cab & trunk was ours. They were hoping for anything the thieves had left behind that might provide a lead. It was a bit of a mess because the thieves had dumped out everything in the glove box and rifled through everything in the car & tossed it around....cd's, paperwork, etc. But everything was familiar.
-
Yeah, of course it isn't. What a great bunch of solo dates!

Proving once more how strong VC vibeage is, CAR IS HOME!!!!! Found ditched in an alley only 5 minutes from home, safe and sound and completely intact except for the ignition having been ripped out. We feel unbelievably lucky and grateful. What a relief...I truly thought we'd seen the last of it! Thank you to everyone who wished good wishes. They came true.
