  1. Rockateens & Superchunk
  2. I'm not a local but I've been to both several times, and I will second Radiatortunes' opinion that Vancouver is where you should spend the larger portion of your time. But definitely spend time in both locations.
  3. Rockateens - Sixth House https://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2018/04/24/604382192/the-rock-a-teens-cabbagetowns-vibrantly-weird-rock-band-is-back
  4. I go to Waffle House a lot. Been there hundreds of times, at dozens of different locations. Based on that, I'm slightly surprised that the cook didn't calmly walk over and chop this motherfuckers head off with a knife. Most of the people working there are not to be trifled with. But I suppose that gives a little perspective on how scary and insane a shooter situation is, and how even folks who have seen and experienced some real shit and are hardened by life become powerless when confronted with these horrible killing machines.
  5. The first time I went to Vancouver was when TV and film production was really taking off in the area. We were having an ice cream, and Chris Kattan went walking by on the sidewalk. You should have heard the squee-ing from the girls working in the ice cream shop. For Chris Kattan, if you can believe that.
  6. I've been to both a few times. I don't know if these things are do-able with a toddler, but in Vancouver we really enjoyed the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (easily accessed by public bus) and a bike ride around the Stanley Park seawall. in Victoria, we loved hiking part of the Juan De Fuca trail out to the coast. Not a particularly long walk, but lovely...and a good way to get away from the cruise ship people. That required a car rental, but was worth it. I always like to go to Fan Tan Alley when I'm in Victoria. It's a very narrow pedestrian street with neat shops and a good recor
  7. A good idea would be Stevie NIcks leaving FM for a while and doing her own tour with the Heartbreakers as her band. It should be interesting to hear Neil Finn singing Lindsey Buckingham songs. Or pre-Buckingham FM songs. And maybe they'll back him up on some of his own songs. That might be kind of neat. I wouldn't pay to see any of that, but I'll definitely check it out on youtube.
  8. Another fabulous performance has been released y the NC4. https://www.stereogum.com/1988794/the-nels-cline-4-swing-ghost-59-video/video/
  9. Why would anyone do that? Surely they can sell some copies, and that's better than nothing. People don't lose interest in records just because a band breaks up. Did they break up because they hate this record? That's the only scenario that makes sense.
  10. New Sam Evian album in June. You Forever. Digging the first track, which was just released. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIcxxeskGns
  11. That's gotta be a great feeling! Congratulations.
  12. Wow, that is terrible and horrifying. I hope you're on the mend and that you'll be proven wrong about not seeing any more shows.
  13. This is not just spite. It's far darker than that. With this firing, and its timing, he's sending a calculated message to everyone he has authority over.
  14. Thanks! I think that's different than the video I was referring to. Different setlist. Found it! This is the video. Same year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9Dih6JdwpM
  15. Trouble in Mind...should have known. That cover reminded me of the recent Paperhead album, which is also on Trouble in Mind. Good label!
  16. Never say never: https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-excuse-conor-lamb-apos-141556517.html "Trump and the White House attempted to take credit both for Lamb’s victory and Saccone’s close loss. “The young man last night that ran, he said, ‘Oh, I’m like Trump,’” the President said at the fundraiser about Lamb."
  17. Is this the one that's on Youtube? I was having a Van deep-dive some months back, and I found a video of him from one of the Fillmores. May have been Fillmore East, though.
  18. ^What's that last one with the foot?
  19. I saw this record last week in the record store. Haven't seen it in years. I almost bought it, but I had already had the new Breeders album and Neil Young Time Fades Away, another one you rarely see, in my hands and that was alI I wanted to spend that day. Kind of kicking myself over that, but I guess everything is easy to find online.
  20. Olden Yolk. A Quilt side project. I like it better than anything I've heard from Quilt, which is odd, because this is the male singer from Quilt, and I tend to like the female singer's songs better in that band.
  21. The more interesting question to me is whether this means the GOP will try to get more moderate in an attempt to save their own asses come November, or they'll go full-on rabies and try to cram in every insane policy between now and when a new D majority is seated in January.
  22. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before you can move forward.
  23. I was listening to Lovers the other day. What an amazing achievement. I think this new track is my favorite thing I've heard from Nels since "Square King" from The Giant Pin.
  24. I don't know. Did they do a vinyl reissue of this? Mins is a cutout/old one. No lyric sheet. Was the original pressing gatefold? Mine is not.
