  1. i think acousticsounds.com has an impressive collection of vinyl brushes. i recently bought a new stylus and was cleaning it with this old hardcore Pulsar toothbrush. bad idea. i was listening to Ryan Adams moments later and kept hearing music playing behind the music. was strange. come to find out, the stylus was touching the vinyl in 2 spots. these records are are high maintenance. i'm going back to cds
  2. check out what i found at a used bookstore today! an original 1994 1st edition copy of Dylan's Drawn Blank for only $5. i've heard of the recent Dylan art book but have never heard of this one. supposedly, these bad boys are quite rare. dunno how the book store let this slide beneath their radar.
  3. just finished my mix. had to re-mix it as the first mix was depressing as heck. it then occurred to me that most of what i listen to is depressing. this new mix is rad tho. 19 songs at 79 mins. 42 secs.
  4. heard Solitaire at Urban Outfitters a couple of hours ago.
  5. YHF AGIB BT ST W(TA) SBS AM its very hard for me to choose b/w YHF and AGIB. both are monumental albums that mean so much to me but at the same time mean very different things so, i'm siding w/ YHF since it was my first Wilco record. also, on any given day, ST could be interchangeable with BT but, overall, i feel that BT is a stronger album with a little more to offer.
  6. funniest thread, ever bet $10 that at least 6 more people will ask for PMs within the next 24 hours...
  7. hahah, i feel the same way towards this song. i'd also like The Doors' L.A. Woman to be played as well as a Johnny Cash hymnal (Where the Soul of Man Never Dies?) and maybe 1-2 more to be decided on later.
  8. 1. Lowden11 2. DAngerer09 (CD prefered) 3. Hardwood Floor (come on, let's sendspace ... i don't have time to pack up a CD and go to the post office!!) 4. twigboyjoe - CD preferred....I like presents 5. m_thomp (sendspace it) 6. HungryHippo (CD/ sendspace)
  9. i'd love to participate in something like this. i think doing an old school cd-r trade would be cool. there's nothing like getting a disc in the mail, popping it in your cd player and discovering some new jams. the internet seems to take the joy/ anticipation of this away to a degree.
  10. made it out to Schoolkids the other day and was so stoked to see that they carry vinyl now! their used selection wasn't all that great, like who's selling their good vinyl, but their new vinyl selection was impressive. i will be going back there soon, for sure.
  11. the official converse site lets you design your own pair of shoes and i was tinkering around with it the other night. so tempted to buy a pair like that Converse
  12. i spent $99 for an Emerson turntable at K-Mart. i then bought a $65 surround sound set-up from Walmart and have had 0 problems with any of the equipment. you can sometimes find turntables for $50 at either K-Mart or Big Lots when they're on sale.
  13. its mandatory upon first listen of the vinyl that you wear these: i have way too much time on my hands...
  14. yes, thanks Solace. i prefer the new style as opposed to the previous one. your work is much appreciated. regarding the board dying down, i have a feeling that a plethora of new Wilco fans will join soon. after all, W(TA) is about to be released and we all know that a new album + tons of touring = crazy amounts of new fans. i first got into Wilco back in 2002 when YHF was released, but i didn't join VC until a fellow fan informed me of its existence backstage after my first Wilco gig. we should hand out VC business cards at shows
  15. Can't Stand It! haven't heard this one in forever.
  16. this is my 2nd fav. song off of AM...right beside Too Far Apart. i'd also love to see this get played again on a semi-consistent basis.
  17. got my copy today! i will say that Wilco (The Album) features some of the best vinyl artwork i have ever seen. love the fact that the lyrics are printed on the actual jacket rather than flimsy paper and i'm also digging the pics. i liked the cd as well but i gave that to my boss since he missed Wilco at the Bonnaroo. about to put this bad boy on the turn table edit- Deeper Down sounds wild on vinyl!
  18. its so crazy how news like this travels. i was picking a friend up way out in the ol' back roads of rural NC at 5:30 when his dad, who was sitting out on his front porch smoking a cigarette, told me of the news. they don't even have the internet or cable. i think its pretty safe to say that MJ played a role, no matter how big or small, in all of our lives. hope his family, friends and fans are doing well tonight.
  19. great to hear that this is shipping now. i haven't received my copy of W(TA) yet, however, i did visit my local record shop today and bought the You Never Know 7"! edit- got a nice lil tracking e-mail from Kung Fu, too!
  20. awesome, awesome, awesome! found myself doing a little late night half dance in my living room.
  21. wonder if Unlikely Japan was recorded like This is New with Jeff playing a guitar in an isolated room while the guys add on to what they're hearing? that's such an intriguing process, i'd love to hear more songs like this by them.
  22. thanks for that review, mountain bed. an orchestral GD show sounds very appealing, especially now after a rough day at work. hope these guys make it over to NC soon. looks like there's a Russian GD symphony with a cd out that you can order through dead.net. might have to check this out when i order the new Road Trips, which is sounding bad ass right now, thanks for the link to the listening party, A-Man. here's the link to the Russian symphony: http://www.deadsymphony.com/ edit- are these the guys you caught, mountain bed? looks like the track list for their cd is exactly the same as the set
  23. haha, classic. as a kid in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, some friends and i came across brown spray paint and proceeded to graffiti-ize the wall which separated I-95 from our neighborhood. i left a smiley face and the Nine Inch Nails logo as my mark.
  24. what a cool concept. i enjoyed Sunday Morning very much. can't wait for Femme Fatale and Heroin. bet Venus in Furs will rocking as well.
