  1. You could visit Don Mattingly's boyhood home.
  2. You can't say a band has ever truly "made it" until they've got people hawking bootleg shirts outside their shows...
  3. Long story short...I won't be able to make it to this gig and I'm hoping to get back what I paid, which was basically 30 quid plus shipping. We can figure out the shipping charges, but if you're interested in the ticket, please let me know via PM or e-mail (paulsuwan@gmail.com). Thanks! By the way, it's a hard ticket and not a printout if that makes any difference to you.

    UIC Night 2

Hey Lou, the place I loved was Sweet Maple Cafe on Taylor, just past your place, Bar Louie. Maybe you can transpose it to that Chicago thread for me.
  5. Not sure if you wound up watching/working the entire second show "from above," Johnny, but I couldn't help thinking when I spotted you up there with that tripod that you were lining some of us up in the crosshairs! Nice work on the posters, by the way! Glad you made the trip. Great to see you, as always.
  6. That's a better shot than the one that ran in the print edition. And I'm not just saying that because my eye made it in.
  7. There is a poster up in the Wilco store for the Austin (Cedar Park) show, btw. Or at least there was.
  8. But what is, really? You'll be happy to know it made it back "home" safely, though it might have to remain in Chicago for the time being.

Was just coming back to correct myself on that, so thanks. I guess maybe it was originally scheduled for Schuba's but they got the new place open in time. Anyway, Liam and EJ are well worth catching, especially since they're not opening the UIC shows. Also, Lincoln Hall is technically on, um, Lincoln, right?
  10. Wow, I'm a little surprised they kicked you out! You were the guy in the front row on the right side (stage left) first balcony, right? I give you props for sticking to your guns in the face of all of the shouts to sit. I always end up caving. And I have to say that between Kamera and At Least...well, during the start of At Least, I was pretty amused when people started chanting, "Let him stand, let him stand!" I was sort of secretly hoping that you'd make them haul you out. Sorry it worked out badly this time. I figured they took you to a spot where you could stand without being in front
  11. In case anybody has been keeping track, which I'm sure they haven't, this was Liam and EJ's setlist for night 1 at Massey (sorry for the delay...just realized I never actually posted it): Plane Crash Long Way To Go Remember When I'll Be Lightning On Your Side> Second Chance Lead Balloon

    UIC Chicago

You should go see Rhett Miller and the Serial Lady Killers at Park West on Friday night and Liam Finn and Eliza Jane Barnes at Schuba's on Saturday night.
  13. Just wanted to let you know I stopped by yesterday. Really nice space you guys have -- the Uncle Tupelo handbill in the restroom foyer is a nice touch (as are, of course, the Wilco posters in the main space). The kids working when I was there were very nice. Anyway, good luck to you guys! P.S. I also had a "Kingpin" and got a "She's A Jar" to go.
  14. Here were the setlists, as played, for Wilco and Liam and EJ on night 2 at Massey: Wilco —"The Price Is Right" theme music intro— Bull Black Nova You Are My Face One Wing IATTBYH Kamera At Least That's What You Said Radio Cure Impossible Germany Country Disappeared Handshake Drugs Deeper Down Jesus, etc. (crowd singalong) Sonny Feeling Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Hummingbird --------------- Wilco (the song) Misunderstood California Stars (w/Liam Finn on acoustic guitar and vox and Eliza Jane Barnes on shaker and vox) You and I (w/Leslie Feist on vox) Kingpin Casino Queen I'
  15. Hey bobbob, did you read my post? Honestly, I feel pretty good saying this on behalf of Jeff that he could care less that she was drinking out of a flask. He was not, I REPEAT NOT, judging her for drinking out of a flask or otherwise! But he was letting her know that she was flaunting the rules, first by videotaping and then by using the flask, and that he could very well see it!
  16. I just have to say that this thread (not to mention some of the other ones in Just A Fan) is getting a bit ridiculous. I can't believe that people are focusing on this sort of stuff rather than the music at this show. I mean, they essentially debuted Country Disappeared and played a Big Star song with Big Star's drummer for God's sake! Honestly, I don't really think Jeff cares what people do or don't consume/inhale/whatever at shows. And he knows that he can't win the camera/video battle either, as he basically said at this show. But he figures he'll ask nicely and make his feelings known an
  17. Looks like they will be in NYC on Oct. 23, so I just bought a ticket. Thanks for the reviews, all! Looking forward to experiencing it for myself.
  18. Yeah, quite a night in Memphis. The crowd up front was, um, interesting, to say the least. But the musical highlights were pretty amazing... I'm sure there will be plenty of discussion about this one, so for now I'll just post the setlists as played: Wilco: —"The Price Is Right" theme music intro— Wilco (the song) A Shot in the Arm Bull Black Nova You Are My Face IATTBYH> One Wing At Least That's What You Said Deeper Down Impossible Germany Country Disappeared Handshake Drugs Sonny Feeling Jesus, etc. Can't Stand It Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You ------------------ Misu
  19. I dunno...It kind of seemed like that might be becoming part of their set now. And of all shows to decide not to bring my camera! Well, at least I sort of helped broker the shirt exchange when Jeff handed me his shirt while the gold lamé guy was taking his off...
  20. Sounds very cool! Any idea how many dates they are doing with the film? (I suppose I could also try looking it up myself, but in case you knew offhand.)
  21. Sorry for the delay in responding, but the soundcheck in KC was basically: Country Disappeared I'll Fight (Was I) In Your Dreams (w/"Crazy" interlude-Willie Nelson-style) Sky Blue Sky Say You Miss Me —organ/keyboard jam—
  22. Definitely the goofiest show of the tour so far, what with the gold lamé shirt trading and all... Here were the setlists, as played: For Wilco: —"The Price is Right" theme music intro— Wilco (the song) A Shot in the Arm One Wing IATTBYH Bull Black Nova You Are My Face Company In My Back Kamera Handshake Drugs I'll Fight Cars Can't Escape Impossible Germany Sonny Feeling Hate It Here Walken I'm The Man Who Loves You Hummingbird ------------------ Theologians Jesus, etc. (crowd singslong) Can't Stand It You Never Know (w/Liam Finn on acoustic guitar and vox) ------------------ The Late Grea
  23. If it was at the Aeolian, I would definitely say hello. But I'll do my best this time, T. (Of course, you could always say hello to me!)
  24. It's late, so I'll just post the setlists for this arena spectacular (or not spectacular, depending on your point of view). Jim Scott, who co-produced both Wilco (the album) and the Seven Worlds Collide project, was at the show (with a couple of the Dixie Chicks, I'm told), and got shoutouts from both Wilco and Liam Finn. There was also Jeff's "regifting" of a signed Nolan Ryan baseball to somebody named Patrick in the first few rows. Apparently it was Patrick's birthday. Anyway, here's what Wilco played: Wilco (the song) A Shot in the Arm Bull Black Nova You Are My Face IATTBYH> One Wi
