  1. OK.... VC, this is Matthew,Matthew, welcome to VC.
  2. it was bound to happen. now we can be added to that ever so awesome book of "Via Chicago Couples" Good company indeed!
  3. Thanks guys. Ashley was really close to winning, but came up short. She's not bummed though, because she got a lot of encouragement from people she's never met, and she asked me to pass along her "thanks!"
  4. Apparently, my fiancé has decided to join VC. Now somebody delete this, cos I'm embarrassed. (Seriously, this thread should be deleted)
  5. thanks for all your help i really hope she wins. they're one of her favorite bands, and i can't imagine how i would feel if i were in her shoes.
  6. also, here is a direct link: if it would be faster and more convenient.
  7. Thank you guys so much! I think she is currently in 2nd place. Please pass her story on to friends on Facebook if you can. She told me she hasn't seen a show since she was a kid. It would mean so so so much to her (and me too) if she wins.
  8. hey guys, i don't normally petition for things like this, but a really good friend of mine wants to go see the avett brothers sold out show here in chattanooga on friday. i've posted to the wall of the venue to try to win tickets for her (the post with the most "likes" wins the tickets) and could really use help/support. my friend Ashley is a huge Avetts fan, and she couldn't afford the tickets. Her family has a lot of financial struggles, and she's kinda got it rough. Winning these tickets would be a real blessing for her. She's not been to many concerts, and I know it would mean the worl
  9. My fiancé and I are going to brave the weather (it's supposed to be 58! ) around 3 or 4. Not sure how early a lot of folks are going. My sister is gonna show up an hour or so before doors. When she saw the Avetts in the Smokies back at the beginning of October, she said they got there an hour before doors and managed to land a 2nd row spot. Anyway, we're going to camp out around 3, maybe 4. We'll see. I've never been to a sold out show at Track 29... so I don't really know how that will be
  10. found this on tumblr this evening, very awesome! watch "Dawned On Me" here:
  11. their own personal opinion doesn't bother me so much. it's when they said the bit about how other people laugh at my wilco stories when i leave the break room. i know it shouldn't bother me, and i know i shouldn't expect every single person to appreciate the band in the way i do. if anything listening to them rant about made me reaffirm my admiration and sort of love for the band.
  12. Yesterday I made a new-ish dessert. I saw pictures on tumblr and pintrest of these dough pockets filled with nutella, and i had to try them. instead of making a dough, though, i took the easy route and used crescent rolls (of all things). i put a dollop of nutella in the middle of each one and sort of folded them dumping style. baked them for about 10 minutes and then topped them still warm with powdered sugar. they sure were good. my dad even ate to before dinner! i know it's probably not the most original thing in the world, but i hardly ever bake things, and it was easy, if you're lookin
  13. I would listen to them all play kazoos while wearing space helmets. Anything they play is a-ok by me at show (as long as it's not late greats... kinda over that one live now )
  14. today at work I caught a lot of flack from a co-worker about my choices when it comes to music. particularly my choice of #1 favorite band of 10+ years (crazy that it's been over 10 years now!) they proceeded to tell me that i need a "real hobby" besides spending money on a band that "doesn't even get played on the freakin' radio, and no one's ever heard of". they told me that my "zealousness was tiresome" and that "people at the lunch table make fun of my wilco stories when i leave the room". this person's words hurt me so much i broke into tears at work. what's worse, and they really didn't
  15. Listening to this show now. Jeff's banter is hilarious "do not call my house" I laughed at that for a long time.
  16. if you listen to the song while looking at the little dancey smiley it might help (it synchs up with the song)... that's the only song from the whole love that i didn't get to see live! one day....

People who steal are horrible people. I had my backpack stolen out of my trunk in the fall (among the contents my less-than-a-month-old macbook pro) and it was so violating. I can only imagine an entire car. Maybe the police will find it!! Did you have insurance? Maybe you can get some sweeter wheels? Hang in there!!
  19. Track 29 reminds me of a sort of warehouse environment. It's basically a big flat building. Really, it reminded me of an airplane hanger. It's okay. If you're on the rail the sound is way too loud. So if you're planning to be up front bring ear plugs. The last couple shows I started out on the rail and then moved back because I got tired of being pushed into the barricade, and annoyed by how extremely loud it was. But I plan to stick it out for the avetts. Overall, it's not a bad place. Not my favorite place to see a show, but the best option Chattanooga has right now besides the Tivo
  20. I wish this show was on netflix instant so bad
