I can't believe how this song has grown on me. Moreso than any of the others, this one took quite awhile for me to dig. But now there it is. I'm diggin' it.

Pretty good performance, Nels was note perfect...

John's grown a beard.

Nels is amazing. I just moved to Vermont a few months ago and got to talk to him after the Shelburne show (6/29, also my 30th B'day).

Tonight he was right on. I'm not crazy about the song choice though....Hate it here would have been cool.

Jeff didn't sound very good. Sounded bored...

pretty typical for talk show performances. it seems like he's afraid to get into it, and sadly comes across as milquetoast. it's a good thing they actually kick ass in concert.

You have to give the guy credit, he doesn't put on any airs for the cameras. He sang it like he did in the studio. I agree it wasn't the best song choice, but so what? Do you really think the band care at this stage about attracting legions of new fans? They do this shit because it's in their contract.

must be hard not to be bored after being in the same building as jay leno for more than one minute. i thought they did great, all things considered. my first choice would have been "side with the seeds," but "either way" was not a disappointment.

I think its possible that they get a thrill out of being on the Tonight Show.

No doubt. But doesn't mean they're plotting like a bunch of schoolmates how they're gonna "blow everybody away".

Live music on T.V. is a wierd deal, especially when the band playing doesn't rely on dramatic gestures to get the song across. Neil can pull it off but not many do.

Thoughts upon watching: "Yes! It's not What Light!"

Quickly followed by "Goddammit, it's Either Way."

I was really hoping for You Are My Face or Impossible Germany, either of which could have been shortened to fit into the allowed time slot.

That's a good point. And Tweedy is similar-- he's both a great songwriter and a cool rock star. After being cool for a long time, it gets old.. maybe he'd like to be more recognized for his songcraft now. JM2C
