So Long
I thought it sounded okay. At times a bit empty, the keys were way down in the mix.

tft3323
If you were in Atlanta in June and heard them open with "Maybe the sun will shine..." in the pouring rain, then you were pleased like I was to hear Either Way last night. Great song. Also, great trousers from Nels!

lamradio
Great choice... I have always thought that they needed to sell that song more.. And I'm sure a lot of people watching were saying "Hey! So that's the band that plays that song on the VW commercial.. I think I'll go buy their record.."

Great song. Also, great trousers from Nels!  i completely agree!!!! i was half-awake when they were on, so didn't get to really focus. and i agree with whoever said being in the building with jay leno for more than 1 minute will make anyone board. what kind of comedian has to explain all his jokes after he tells them. BORING!
Atticus
the sound mix, at least through our sub-par tv speakers, was uneven at best. This seems to plague wilco's tv performances...
GtrPlyr
I really like "Either Way," and even understand it being chosen to be played. They've done rockier songs in the past on the various talk shows and lord knows they probably didn't help boost record sales. It couldn't hurt to take a different approach this time, especially with the VW recognition factor. As for the performance, I found it a bit stiff. Maybe they were a bit nervous 'cause it was anything but loose. It was a workmanlike performance, just nothing special.
loraaw
Despite adding 10 minutes to my Tivo, it cuts off while the Superbad kids are still being interviewed. Our local channel must have started the show super late. Can anyone post a link or send me the vid? I've tried youtube, no luck.
Guest Jules
the sound mix, at least through our sub-par tv speakers, was uneven at best. This seems to plague wilco's tv performances... I thought it sounded really good, but I run everything through my surround sound. I have heard similar comments on other TV performances (Wilco and non-Wilco), where it sounded great to me but others didn't think so. I also thought Jeff sounded great. Loraaw, musical performances on Leno always run late, but yeah your station must have started even later for some reason. I have learned to set my DVR to record 5 minutes past the end of the showtime.

unposed_question
As for the performance, I found it a bit stiff. . It was a workmanlike performance, just nothing special. I agree. Not exactly a "band" song in my mind. If the Tonight Show format limits their choice of songs, that's one thing. But otherwise, that's a song for my earphones, not a live telvision show (except maybe ACL). Like with their Letterman appearance, I would have preferred the extra hour of sleep. Another reason to get TiVo. Could Jay Leno be anymore inane and banal?
nicburto
thanks for that JHamm does anyone happen to have a video of the Jesus, Etc. performance from Leno? I think that is the best one they've done on a late night show and I'd like to get my hands on it.

oceanman
Whats up with them playing all sorts of different gear?Nels had a Fender Princeton,Jeff was playing some vintage 5 watt Champ like amp,Glenn was playing some random Sonor set.I think they may of sounded a little off because of this. danelectro
Maybe their gear is in Denver or is in transit from where ever they played before that.

tft3323
Analogman, I noticed the equipment too. Weird to see no Vox behind Jeff. Limited pedals for Nels and Jeff too. But it was good getting an up close and clear view of the Barney Kessel.
