Wilco takes requests

Recommended Posts

I am not going to this show, but I saw on the Wilco homepage (bottom right) a link that said "Now accepting requests for Millenium Park."

Once you click on the link it takes you to a screen where you are asked to choose a song from a list (looks to be most all of them), say why you choose it, and include a message to the band. They also have a spot for you to fill in your name, address, etc.

Thought this was pretty cool. Too bad I don't live near Chicago and school just started.

What other band does this?

None.

Looks like this will be quite an incredible show for those of you going. Have fun.

I told them this:

Song you would like to request:

Dreamer in My Dreams

Why did you choose this song:

Because it rawks hardcore.

Message to the Band:

If you play this song and mention this message you will get a 12-pack of Diet Coke when you roll into Columbus, OH on Oct. 16th. I am legit serious.

The song request thing is amazing. Just like back in April for Jeff's solo show at the Vic (also a benefit):

Wilco is one of the featured artist's this Friday on XRT.

I hope you all have a great time in the park next week; sounds like it will be a great, great show.

Call me a skeptic, but I call BS when bands call for requests. Would they really play anything off of AM thats not Passenger Side or Too Far Apart, or any odds and ends off of either Mermaid Ave's? Probably not. I like the interactive aspect, but REM did the same thing in 2003, and every night was more or less the same. I saw several consecutive shows and they started the same and ended the same. I may be pleasantly surprised, but I'd expect mostly YHF, AGIB and SBS content. But anymore, I find that when bands play something you really want to here, it tends to mean more rather than hearing it every night. So I was thrilled to hear the rarities both nights in Denver.
