bigideas
Yeah, i'm listening to it now. Good song other than the chorus. what is so bad about it?
solace
what is so bad about it? i don't know why, but some people can't get over the fact that a band uses the words "choo choo train" i've never had an issue with it myself
jff
i don't know why, but some people can't get over the fact that a band uses the words "choo choo train" i've never had an issue with it myself It just sounds too kiddie to me. I wouldn't like it if they sang "gah gah goo goo" either, but it's their song. They can sing what they want. it's not that I can't get over it, I just don't find it appealing. I still like the band and the album.
mfwahl
i don't know why, but some people can't get over the fact that a band uses the words "choo choo train" I think it's more the "choo choo rain" that buggers people. I like the song.

bigideas
it's most like something you'd hear on a 70's Beach Boys record (for some reason i think of Take Good Care of Your Feet though they don't sound alike). the Beatles and Wilco both have 'kiddie' lyrics in their songs at times, too. i like how they bend the word "part" over about 80 syllables and notes. mfwahl
i like how they bend the word "part" over about 80 syllables and notes.Me too. The lyrics during that part are simple but good. "a part" vs. "apart". Not groundbreaking but I like how the same sound is made to mean opposite things.
jff
what's wrong with sounding childish at times? There's nothing wrong with sounding childish at times. Also, there's wrong wrong with that specific example not appealing to me.
solace
nope, there's not, just seemed like sort of a silly reason i guess, bigideas explained it well. but you're more than entitled to not like it

However, "You're not my son" seems to be a very powerful part that catches my attention every time I hear it. Chilling in a way, but delivered maybe a little too casually. No? From is one of my favs off this record.

Littlebear
I decided to buy this new album since I like the previous ones (especially Easy Beat). How would you compare Fate to the previous albums?
myboyblue
I decided to buy this new album since I like the previous ones (especially the self titled one). How would you compare Fate to the previous albums? It may be my favorite. My opinion is that it is as good as We All Belong. I haven't heard their earlier albums.
