i don't know why, but some people can't get over the fact that a band uses the words "choo choo train" :ermm

i've never had an issue with it myself

It just sounds too kiddie to me. I wouldn't like it if they sang "gah gah goo goo" either, but it's their song. They can sing what they want. it's not that I can't get over it, I just don't find it appealing. I still like the band and the album.

I think it's more the "choo choo rain" that buggers people. I like the song.

what's wrong with sounding childish at times? for a band that is all about fun especially

it's most like something you'd hear on a 70's Beach Boys record (for some reason i think of Take Good Care of Your Feet though they don't sound alike). the Beatles and Wilco both have 'kiddie' lyrics in their songs at times, too.

i like how they bend the word "part" over about 80 syllables and notes.

Me too. The lyrics during that part are simple but good. "a part" vs. "apart". Not groundbreaking but I like how the same sound is made to mean opposite things.

Pretty pink, baby blue

Why don't (why don't) you teach me something new

We're all (we're all) just babies in my view

So crawl baby

Crawl baby

Pretty pink, baby blue

Why don't (why don't) you teach me something new

We're all (we're all) just babies in my view

So crawl baby

Crawl baby

Miss lady

You could have been born a little later but I don't care

So what if your head sports a couple of grey hairs

Same here, and actually I think that's funky

(In a Claire Huxtable type way)

Miss lady

It looks to me like you need a little juice in your life

So call me when that big ole house gets lonelyfied

And I'll teleport from here to there

You show me how it's supposed to be done

I'll make sure you have young fun

Pretty pink, baby blue

Why don't (why don't) you teach me something new

We're all (we're all) just babies in my view

We're all (we're all) just babies in my view

So crawl baby

Crawl baby

You're sophisticated

Just me and miss lady

You've got me talkin like a baby

You make me talk baby talk

She's so sophisticated

You make me talk baby talk

Just me and miss lady

She makes me talk baby talk

Got me talkin like a baby

Like ga ga and goo goo :P

Oh momma

You're so sophisticated

Make me talk baby talk

Just me and miss lady

You're so experienced

Got me talkin like a baby

Teach me somethin new

Teach me somethin new

You're sophisticated

Just me and miss lady

You got me talkin like a baby

I love the Choo Choo part, but then again I'm an old guy and I can't be waste time thinkin' about whether or not it's too childish. However, "You're not my son" seems to be a very powerful part that catches my attention every time I hear it. Chilling in a way, but delivered maybe a little too casually. No?

From is one of my favs off this record.

What do you feel he's trying to express in that verse?

I heard "Hang On" on the radio today in Louisville, KY and it made me very very happy.

I decided to buy this new album since I like the previous ones (especially the self titled one).

How would you compare Fate to the previous albums?

It may be my favorite. My opinion is that it is as good as We All Belong. I haven't heard their earlier albums.
